There is a switch blank on the lower right by the steering column on our '14 Limited.

I've not been able to find anything in the owners manual indicating what would go there. Maybe something on AWD models?

Anyway, anyone know what this space is for, and what may be behind it?

I'm considering using it for something, but not really up for opening up the area just to find it may be unusable.

we have two RAV4’s a 2019 Adventure and a 2020 XSE Hybrid (both our daily’s) We LOVE them!

As for your question I’m sure there’s nothing behind it if you want to install a switch... otherwise there is a Rav4 forum that’s pretty good too. Good luck!

AWD models have a "center diff lock" button on either the left or right of the steering column depending on generation:

I don't have AWD, but I have the hatch open switch, and where the shown locking switch is there is a blank.

You'll also note that the place in my pic is a bit differently shaped, with a bit of bevel at the bottom.

This is as much of a curiosity thing as anything now..........

But I trust someone around here will come up with a good answer. :fingerscrossed:

For auto A/C models, it detects interior temp.

Buuuuuuut you have a limited. Give me a sec.

It's the room temperature thermistor. Not sure why your limited doesn't have it.

I do have auto AC, works great.

But this particular position has nothing externally visible (like you see in the pic)

Is the thermistor mounted behind this space?

Possibly, I cant recall. My mom has a 13 limited and we own a 17 SE, neither are parked at my house today.

It's a long tube and a thermistor that jabs into the back. I would presume its there and its not a blank.

So I noticed this small 'vent' looking area to the right. It's in the 1st pic, but not clearly seen. Seems like that might be related to the AC control......

Guess I'm going to have to pull the lower panel and look to know for sure.
