Hello everyone, first time poster here. Thanks to all the guys who have made this an excellent Tacoma resource.

Looks like I finally have my finances squared away and I am leaning towards a new 2018 SR access cab. I have been researching the different options packages and have run into a conundrum - I don't like the look of the utility package. If I upgrade to get the matching bumper they throw in the access cab seats. However, I have absolutely no need for these seats. I would like to utilize as much room in the access cab for tools, out door stuff etc and maximize rear visibility. I was hoping one of the members here could tell me if:

The access cab back seat bottoms and head rests can be easily removed?

I would prefer to just pull the seats out altogether but I assume that cannot be done without some serious reverse engineering. I need to get as much room in the access cab as possible but do not want to permanently modify the inside of the vehicle.

    Thank You

Welcome to the forum, Yes you can remove the seats and sell them in the classifieds once you have 50 posts. Then you will have to buy the plain trim panels, or you might find someone who will trade out the seats and trim panels.

You can paint your bumper, or get an aftermarket steel bumper. It’s just the front that is noticeable and not much at that if you get a black SR utility package (that’s what I did).

You can remove headrests, there is a thread on that which I and others posted the way to do it. Takes some time but worth it. I also made this up from 3/4" plywood and a piece of 2x12. Works great for dogs and groceries. Making the template is the most time consuming. Also leaves seats in place.

Painting the front bumper seems like the cheapest and easiest route.................

Thanks for the input guys. I like what some of you have done with your storage mods.

Yes I thought about this - a good aftermarket bumper can be had for about the same price as the price difference when switching to the utility package. However, I am not sure if cruise control comes with the utility package. When I build one on the Toyota website it does not allow me to get the Convenience upgrade (cruise control) unless I remove the utility package. Not sure if it supposed to be that way or a glitch.

I removed the seat bottoms and the headrests. On the off chance someone needs to ride back there, they can sit on a cushion or a pillow and they'll still have the backrest and the seat belt.

You can install cruise control yourself. As well as intermittent wipers if you get the utility package. It’s just a matter of buying and installing the switches. They are pretty much plug and play.

    Hi!
If you got that model it would be perfect, I actually have been looking for these parts. We’d be able to swap rear panels so I’ll have the seats and you’ll have the closed rear panel! Let me know if that sounds interesting, sounds like it’ll solve both our problems!
