Have a ‘21 OR on the way! Looking at the accessories list, it shows the cleats and the D rings as accessories. Does the truck not come with any in the bed standard? That would seem crazy to me.

    My ‘11 had 2 D’s (added 2 more
in the corners towards the cab) abs 4 cleats.

Also not quite clear on whether there’s a front rail (against the back of the cab) like my 2nd Gen has. Would be stupid if they removed that (need it to mount bikes, etc) but figured I’d ask while I’m figuring out accessories I do or don’t need.

    thanks!

Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure you'll get 4 and 2 standard. Shown as accessories in case you need additional.

My 21 off-road has 2d rings on the bed floor close to tailgate
The 2 hooks on the side of the bed close to the cab
    No front rail

Most I've seen come with 4 sliding d cleats on the side rails.

Also should come with at least a couple swivel d rings on the bed floor, at the rear corners (tailgate area).

No front rail on 3rd gens. There are some products out there to help secure things at the bulkhead.

My ‘21 came with the 4 cleats (found them under one of the the back seats in the little storage compartment). It also has the 2 swivel “D”s on the bed corners. The window sticker says nothing about these, and you know if it wasn’t standard equipment, the dealer would be charging and extra $500 for adding $60 worth of parts!

Yep, the 4 sliding cleats are usually in a plastic package somewhere inside the truck. Look around for them when your new ride comes in, OP.

you can buy a new front bed rail on Amazon, for I think somewhere around 60 bucks.

Are you trading in your 2nd gen? If so I'd remove that front rail and swap it over to your 3rd gen, dealer won't know or care and save yourself $60, same part between gens.

Toyota removed them standard once they started adding OEM tonneau covers with the 3rd gen because the cover requires a bracket there instead (guess, but you can still install the rail below the bracket).

    Thanks, this is the plan!

Interesting how some replies above mention 4 D rings while some seem to imply 2. I installed 2 extra on my ‘11 so those can come with me too, just in case.

I think that poster was confused, you are going to have 2D rings, if its a SB there are 2 in the corners towards the tailgate and then 2 above the wheel wells up front that arent really rings but tie down points along the side of the bed, long bed or access cab has all 4 on the bed floor, same setup as 2nd gens had. And the 4 bed cleats. I too added the D rings up front on my 2nd gen SB for hauling bikes. Only thing that's changed is the loss of pockets and the loss of the additional bed box over 2nd gens.

    Thanks!

Gah! They got rid of the bed box thing(s)? With the little knob to close them? I kept my bed net and tailgate net and stuff in them. Man!

They kept the smaller of the two, big one was nixed in 19 for some reason. Ya my first ever Tacoma Mod was combilocks on those for when I'd ride out in the desert. NP, congrats on new truck!

The bracket for the oem tonneau does not use the same holes as the front rail.
I have a 3rd gen with both installed.

Never said they used the same holes, just the bracket and rail location if you were to use cleats, IDK, just a guess as to why Toyota got rid of it (I've had both on a few trucks).

    Somewhere hot, flat and brown.
D rings, yes (4 I think) but front rail, no. Easily addable though.

There are 2 D-rings, one in each rear corner. There are 2 tie-downs, one in each front corner. There is no front rail - Toyota will sell you the front rail for about $240!you get 4 moveable tiedowns that lock into the siderails.

I just bought the front header rail from my Toyota dealer for $35.62 (plus $12.90 for the two end caps).

If you are trading in your 2nd gen grab the front rail. I took the one off my 2014 before I sold it and it installed perfectly onto my 2017. Direct bolt on.

I also have the OEM tonneau and they don't conflict with each other.

Toyota is just pinching pennies to increase their profit margin.
No front rail in the bed - was standard on my '06.
Mud flaps now an add-extra when they were once standard equipment.
    It gets a bit annoying.
