So I ordered the front and rear struts from the TRD lift kit and I see the OEM kit comes with a 1” rear block. My question is can I run the 1.5” Headstrong 3 Leaf Add A Leaf with the TRD rear struts? I have a Leer 100XL topper and did get a little squat in the rear with stock suspension but never measured how much. Was told I should choose the 3 Leaf Add A Leaf over a spacer block due to the added weight of the topper. Just trying to figure out if the rear struts would still perform correctly and not be over extended.

Headstrong would be the best place to direct your question. FYI: they don’t manufacture leaf springs, they are a reseller, so most of us are probably not clear on what springs you are referring to.

My guess is that you will be fine.

I contacted Headstrong and they said they are unsure about the OEM TRD rear struts, they could possibly be rebranded 5100s but not sure. I am referencing these HS branded 3 AAL. Just seeing if someone has experience with the OEM kit. I know 5100s would be cheap also but I’m more into OEM+ style builds keeping it simple and clean.

Ah ok. I didn’t know they were selling self branded stuff. 4wp started doing that recently too.

I bought my suspension kit from headstrong.

Yeah was going to go 1” rear block due to the fact I did not want to modify my leaf pack to install an AAL if I ever wanted to go back to stock. Headstrong explained with their new style you do not have to cut your stock leaf pack and it can be put back to stock easily and with the constant bed weight I decided to go that route.

Terminology on your rear suspension is leaf springs, and shock. There is no strut, in either the front or rear.
Front suspension has a "coil over", as in a coil over shock arrangement. This also is not a "strut", as in a Macpherson strut, which is a different beast all together.

Good to know. Does anybody know if the TRD rear “shock” will work with a 1.5” lift instead of 1”. I’m trying not to overextended the “shock” and blow it out.

I’m not familiar with the TRD lift shocks but I suspect any OEM or OEM-spec shock will work just fine. I have OME Dakar medium leaf springs, king extended length shocks, and I still have 5” of droop with 1.5” of lift.
