question on ********* speaker upgrade problem

I just had my 2012 Access cab stereo and speakers upgraded and curious about a problem I'm experiencing. I went with the ********* Image Dynamics ctx65cs component speaker installation kit and just had it "professionally" installed along with a Kenwood head unit. Upon driving home I noticed when I increased the volume the speakers would start cutting out bad. Low volume they seem to be fine. I know very little about this stuff (why I had it installed) but I'm assuming something may not be wired correctly with the crossovers? Believe me, I'm heading back to this installer first thing Monday but I thought I would seek out some help/advice here to arm myself with when I talk to him. Any ideas on the problem?

 

Those speakers need to be amplified. Are they?

 

And by amplified he doesn't mean the low wattage from a Head Unit.

 

No, I didn't think I needed an amp according to the product info on their website. This is from their site:

2005 – 2015 (Generation 2) Tacoma – If you are installing our plug and play amplifier(s), we highly suggest using the tweeter harness adapters (as shown in installation video below). The crossover mount adapters make it easier to mount your crossover below the door panel You can use zip ties to accomplish the same task.

2016 – 20xx (Generation 3) Tacoma -If you are installing our plug and play amplifier(s), we highly suggest using the tweeter harness adapters AND the speaker harness adapters (as shown in installation video below). The crossover mounts is not required since you will be installing the crossover inside the vehicle. Be sure to watch the video below.

If you are planning to power your speakers with the stock wiring (using the stereo to power the speakers), you will want to add the speaker wire harness adapter kit to your order. This kit will allow you to plug into the the factory wiring without any cutting of splicing AND will make it much easier to return your Toyota Tacoma back to factory if you ever trade in or sell. If you are planning to install an amplifier, you will be running heavier gauge speaker wire to your speakers so you will NOT need wire harnesses.

 

Yes you can use them without an amplifier. You just can't turn it up. The head unit doesn't supply enough power to run them at high volume.
