I currently have Cooper Discoverer AT3 45 tires. Size 245 75R 16's. Looking for the next step in tread design, no deep tread, loud road noise type tire. I don't do serious off-roads (fire roads, dirt roads, winter conditions). Without doing a lift kit, what size can I put on the 2018 4X4 tacoma.

265/75-16 My opinion is go with either Highway tire or MT. Anything in between is just a poor compromise.

Lift is not limiting the tire size selection. Tire size selection will affect the truck performance.
    Choose wisely.

235/85R16 is the superior choice if MPGs and power loss are the top priorities.

265/75R16 is needlessly wide and heavy

I found this a little comical as I had to go check as 235 is seriously skinny.

Referencing the toyo at3 that's know for having a stupid amount of size availability.

    265/75r16 sl 41lbs

235/85r16 E (only available in LT spec) 44lbs

Recommending odd ball sizes really can limit your tire choice options.

Going to a 17 would open up alot of other tire sizing options such as the 255/80r17 or the skinny 33 that is supposed to fit stock with virtually no modifications most of the time. Otherwise a 265/75r16 or 255/70r16 would be the largest

I recommend Yokohama G015 in 265/75/16, SL (not LT). Light, quiet, great wet weather traction, plus 3 Peak rated even in the SL sizes. It's what I ran on mine with the stock OR suspension.

I just went from a 285s to a 265 75 16 Falken Rubitreks. It sucks but I will spend less time at the pumps.

I have Falken Wildpeak A/T, like them. I just stick with same stock size.

I haven’t seen anyone recommend the Yokohama Geolandar AT4 G018 yet. That’s what I currently have and they are fantastic.

This. I'm happy with my 265/75-16's for a number of different reasons

If I want to wheel I have to throw in my 33s. Plus my truck looks great with 33s and a 2 and 3/4 inch lift.

Care to maybe elaborate on your opinion here?
My understanding is a MT will wear down faster than a AT....
Most AT's should outlast an MT in regards to longevity, & an AT will "stick" better on the road....
MT are also known to get noisy over time & really need to stay on top of rotations or the outside tire lugs really get to talking due to wide gaps between lugs....

Just what I said. You lose more on the road than you gain off the road. I don’t care for the in-between. Everything you said could also apply to ATs vs Highway tires

Really loved my 265/75/16 C Load Duratracs. Great in the snow, fun in the mud. They aren't terribly loud, but aren't a quiet tire. Very aggressive and nice looking tire. I will be going back to them once I wear out my Wildpeaks.

Now saying that the Wildpeaks may be a great tire choice for you, as they are a little more street friendly. Both come with the 3 peak snow designation.
