    Hey there,

Just bought a Tacoma and just joined the forum and I already have a question. :)

I want to get a cap for the bed, but I'm not sure if the existing liner will enable a proper fit. I know that most caps fit by using what is essentially a vice, looping underneath the edge of the sidepanel and then up onto the bottom of the cap, tightening both together.

My concern is that the liner essentially makes the sides of the bed flat, without any overhang. Additionally, there aren't any cutouts on the top side of the liner, so I'm a bit confused as to how I can get a cap on here without pulling out the entire liner. [see pics]

    Any feedback is appreciated.

First of all, you do't have a liner - the plastic IS the bed.
The cap will sit on top of the existing rail cap. The tie down is similar to the c- clamp arrangement but uses a T- nut that fits in the existing rail.

Check out this thread for lots of photos and discussion:

Mine is a Leer 100R and the fit is fine.

You're awesome. Thanks for the link to the great thread. Reading it now.

I am thinking of going the Leer route; there's a dealer nearby in Las Cruces that I may run over to soon.

My best advice is to shop for a good dealer - any of the caps are good, but any can have problems.
My Leer had a couple leaks - mostly around the side opening windows (Windoors).
I brought it in to the dealer and he had someone inside while someone outside hit it with a hose to locate the leaks. A week or so later I took it back and they replaced both Windoors. No arguments.
