I have a base model Tacoma and replaced my damaged bed with a bed from a prerunner (see photo). I would like to remove the black plastic fender trim and paint the bed white. Are there holes in the fender that fasteners go through to hold the flares to the bed? If so, maybe I should just leave the flares on the truck. If there are no holes under the flares, then I would remove them.

    thanks for any help.

There are several holes there. Blue and red clips go through the holes to hold the flare to the fender. Some guys have taken them off, but the holes remain pretty noticeable.
