I'm terribly sorry for starting a new thread for this topic but I still couldn't get a solid answer after searching thoroughly.
    • I'd like to keep the stock head unit for now to retain its car related functionality.
    • I have a 3rd gen with a non-jbl system.
    • I did the Kicker/Subaru tweeter upgrade. The sound quality is good, but they out-powered the door speakers.
I found threads/videos regarding the Kicker CS door speaker upgrade.

If I end up installing those, will the HU will have enough juice to power those speakers up? or will I need an amp? and some mentioned the amp will create some sort of hissing sound. Is that right? (I'm hoping @destin_meeks can give some input, please?)

Some suggested a kicker key amp, and custom make a harness to keep everything factory. (considering contacting @daveeasa for that).
Or should I just get a line output converter and install a generic amp?

I'm not informative when it comes to amps/watts/ohms/etc in audio so please bear with me.

The oem+ option is out of reach as I'm based in Dubai, so shipping it would be a financial nightmare.

    Thank you

I don't know what the kicker cs upgrade is. However, I am using an oem w/nav unit in my 2014 with an upgraded system.

You will get alternator hiss/whine with an oem setup and loc+amp. But you'll only notice at low or muted volume. Once driving, the road noise will likely overpower anything you could hear while it's dead silent. I can't hear anything when music is playing.

The key amp is interesting because it is an amp and a dsp combined, so you don't need the loc. I've never used one, but the technology is sound.
