Would love everyone’s advice here. I do a fair amount of camping/overlanding at night, and finally convinced myself to spend the coin on lighting.

For those that have added lights, what is your feeling about the necessity to have both a light bar in the bumper AND one on top of the roof, such as in the Prinsu roof rack? Is it a bit of overkill?

    Thanks in advance!

Some people are afraid of the dark.

I like a clean look, having bro lightbars hanging all over the place ruins it for me.

Plus where I live aux lighting has to be covered, not easy with a huge lightbar.

Totally agree! Lights for me is all about necessity. So the question I’m wondering about is whether or not there’s an advantage in installing the light bar in the bumper or rack. ‍♂️

there is a thread about lighting types and locations somewhere around here (by one of the Diode Dynamics guys I think)
in short lights above the hood line (roof bars and ditch lights pointed forward) reflect back off the hood creating glare for the driver

I have 2 rock lights and a light bar under the grille. I only really use them when I go camping.... and, it is obviously dark out. I can't even imagine needing more lights! Unless it is just to look cool, lights up on the roof would be totally overkill in my opinion. I mean, unless you are lighting up a football field to play on. lol

This was helpful. Sounds like a light bar in the bumper makes more sense.
