So something I have wondered about really since before I even leased my truck is what constitutes normal wear and tear when it comes to the bed of a pickup truck? With these Tacos and their plastic beds, they seem to scratch fairy easily, although probably either not as easily as a painted bed or at least less noticeable. The fact that it is not a painted bed possibly makes it worse since you cant just touch up the paint. Does anybody have any experience with this topic? I realize that this is a truck, and should be expected to be treated as a truck, and have scratches and such in the bed, but what I expect and what Toyota may expect could be, and are on occasion, completely different.

If the bed is your only concern, the OEM bed mat is the solution.

Its probably a little late for that. I've had it right at a year now and the bed is pretty scratched up. If I were buying it I wouldn't be phased by it at all, but would at least try and knock some off the sale price for it. But at this point that is my only concern. I'm really happy how it has held up. I washed it good yesterday and there is a small paint chip on the rear passenger door, and some tire shine has stained the paint and will hopefully buff out, but at 11,818 miles as it sits right now, I can't complain about anything.

If your lease is through Toyota, if I were them it would be my incentive to get you into another one.

Which I most likely will, unless they screw me over. I would just buy this truck but I feel they valued it way too high. Its difficult to complain about that though, since it just makes the lease amount lower.

Think about posting in the other forums like General Discussion, etc? Seems no one here is leasing? At least no one awake.

You might be better off selling to a CarMax or Toyota dealer.
When my 4Runner lease was up, my residual was $22k and had dealer offers for close to $25k. Tacos should be the same.

Most of that described in the lease terms for normal wear/excessive wear pertains primarily to just handing in the keys and walking away. If you trade it in, and of coarse, buy it at lease end, most or all of that is a moot point.

    Btw, I Lease my ‘18.
