Whats up fellas. Quick question may be dumb and already answered. I'm in preperarion for Huricane Irma down in Miami. Would want to know with the truck off. Would I be able to power a cell phone charger or an electrical lamp through the outlet equipped in the bed without battery drainage. Cell phone is standard Iphone charger amd lamp is a 12V black and decker work lamp. Thanks in advance

The bed outlet only has power when the truck is running.

Hope you make it out ok. :)

Do you have a cigarette lighter charger for the iPhone? Or any such adapters for USB power? If you have a "dumb" cigarette lighter plug extension cord, or one of those plug doublers, you can go direct to battery by stripping off the male cigarette lighter plug and wiring it directly to the battery and then plugging in your iPhone charger to that.Your iPhone won't drain the battery that much at all. Be safe!

Just a side note, but I wouldn't count on cell service to be that reliable during a hurricane. Solitaire should work tho.

I have never tried it, but can't it run 100w with the vehicle off? I swear I read that somewhere

Just went out to the drive with a phone charger. Mine has the push button start, so if yours doesn't, you may see different results.

So- Push button twice without foot on the brake. Display goes thru "Accessory mode" to where it expects the engine to run, but the engine isn't running. Bed power outlet comes on with the 400w light "green". It would not come on at all in "Accessory".

I don't recommend this, as I'm not sure what side effects it could induce. Also, dead truck battery is way worse than a dead iPhone. Cigarette lighter charger seems much less of a Rube Goldberg machine.

I seem to remember the owner's manual states that the engine needs to be running to have power at the outlet. 100 Watts while in gear (moving), 400W while in Park or Neutral, depending on your transmission. I have friends that stayed for Katrina in NOLA, and they all say one of the scariest parts of the storm is the constant sound of that high wind never letting up. Please be as safe as you can. Will make for one hell of a story.

This is from the 2017 manual:

    ■ Maximum available capacity of the power outlet
    ● While the vehicle is being driven
The maximum capacity of the power outlet is always 120 V AC/
    100 W.
    ● When the vehicle is stationary
The maximum capacity of the power outlet varies depending on
    the following conditions:
    • The maximum capacity is 120 V AC/100 W when the following
    conditions applies:
    Vehicles with an automatic transmission
The shift lever is moved to any positions other than P and N.
    Vehicles with a manual transmission
    The clutch pedal is depressed.
    • The maximum capacity is 120 V AC/400 W when the following
    conditions applies:
    Vehicles with an automatic transmission
The shift lever is in P or N.
    Vehicles with a manual transmission
The shift lever is in N and the clutch pedal is not depressed.
The maximum capacity of 400 W can only be restored by turning the
power outlet main switch off and then on again under condition
    described above.

The push button start accessory mode only stays on for a little while though- probably not long enough for what OP needs.
