One more thing to think about. Put some seat covers over that factory upholstery. I just posted this advice to another new member with a nice looking 1st gen. You can't find the upholstery anymore if you wear it out. Slap some 3M Scotch Guard on them, let it dry good, put some covers on them and 10 years down the road, they'll still look nice.

Hummmmm. I have about a square yard of the original upholstery in my crawl space from a seat redo in the past. Wonder what is is worth?

Rare because Toyota NEVER made a long bed 1st gen doublecab.

    That's custom.

people refer to the xtra cabs as being "long bed" because they have a longer bed than the double cabs, but truth is there was only ever one bed option for regular cabs and xtra cabs, and one bed option for double cabs (unless you count the side step bed as an option)

Regular/xtra cabs got the 6ft bed

Double cabs got the 5.5ft bed

No 1st gen double cabs got a 6 foot bed, just like no 1st gen double cabs got a manual transmission. Just one of those things from back then

someone on here has a true long bed double cab first gen, from CO. But he built it himself, looks pretty cool. Combined the back of a 1st gen xtra cab frame to his double cab one I think

That is a mystery to me...technically the difference is 61.5" to 74.5" according to Google

Riding a 121.9-inch wheelbase, the Tacoma Xtracab measures nearly 203 inches long overall. Both versions have a 74.5-inch cargo bed. The Tacoma Double Cab is the same size as the Xtracab, but because it has a larger interior, the cargo bedshrinks to 61.5 inches long.

    I think that's closer to 5' vs a little over 6'?

Now I want to go out and measure mine

edit - maybe they are measuring from one corner to the other corner across? IDK
