    True. If you do the drain and fill yourself, capture all the old fluid and measure it. Put the same amount back in and then check the fluid level. There is no dipstick, but there is a procedure. Here is the Toyota documentation.
    NOTE: For 2020 and after, you do NOT have to jump the DLC3 connector. Just follow all the other step to enter fluid temp detection mode.
