2017 TRD OR - OEM rims and tires.

So, got a giant gash in my OEM front passenger tire yesterday. Went to replace said tire today with same Goodyear Wrangler Adventure 265/70/16. On the new tire the tread patterns are slightly different from OEM, so (I'm OCD) had them swap spare full-size to rim and put new tire on spare steelie.

I swear when I look at the truck that tire looks smaller than the other 3.

Please tell me I'm insane and that the full-size spare that came with the truck that literally has the exact same measurements is the same size as the others.

That was a wise move, at least in terms of 'looks' satisfaction.

    Ok.

But if you insist they aren't the same, put more air in the little one and let some out of the big one until they measure the same. o_O :D

Like 'cause you did already measure it, right? If not, you don't really have OCD, you just like to tell people you do. :p

BTW, there is no way in the world anyone can answer that question from looking at a photo on a website. Parallax, angles, too many other variables. I mean about the tire size.

Of course we can tell you are insane.

OCD would have been replacing all the tires just so they have newer date codes.

And having them all mounted so the space between the D and Y in Goodyear lined up with the valve stem. So when you park it you can jack it up, rotate the stems to the top, and Goodyear is in the same position on each tire.

Tacomas sit higher in the rear, which makes the wheel well opening look larger . Yours look the same to me on the rear. I'm pretty sure I know where this is heading, like maybe you'll need to buy a whole new set of something about two sizes bigger. That's it right?

Went out and measured because I haven't had my required amount of coffee today and didn't even think of that. Measured just about the same as all the others. So I guess its all in my head o_O

I was thinking someone would reply with some in depth knowledge about how the spare tire on trucks made on the 6th of November when the temperature was 65 degrees and put on by Julio were actually 95.8676% the size of the other 4 tires.

I mean this is TacomaWorld isn't it? :D

I didn't even think of that excuse, but I'll use that for ammo when I have to justify new rims and tires to the girlfriend.

Hard for me to tell from the picture, but I will say that Goodyear offers their SL 265/70R-17 Wrangler A/T - Adventurer in two versions, and it's possible one is smaller than the other.

For reference M/P# 758045630 is the O.E. Toyota version where M/P# 758045571 is the aftermarket version.

I was actually talking to the guy at the shop, as he was the one who let me know that the tread patterns on the new tire (non-OEM) were slightly different than the OEM tires.

Are only Toyota dealerships able to order the OEM version?

No, the Toyota version is not exclusive to Toyota dealerships.
