    Hello folks.

This is my first post that I've started..so please bear with me.

I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Prerunner.

Since the truck has almost 100k on it, and I had some available cash, I purchased a OEM suspension from another member on TW.

    Link to parts purchased -

    /

I've searched both Tacoma world and other sites to determine if I can do the install work myself , as well as called some recommended shops.

I'm still contemplating if I will do it and if I come across a post that does not stray from the topic on how to do it I may try..

    My questions now are:

    - are my hand tools suffice or will i need special tools

    - I was given a price of 250 to 300 dollars to complete the jobs is that a fair price if I elect not to do the parts swap

    - would anyone need the used parts after i get them off

Any other comments would be appreciated.

BTW, I dont off road nor do I plan to..I use this truck to haul little things and my kids to school, along with it being my daily driver.

Thank you for your thoughts and input

    Regards

    Ps.

Since the parts I purchased included 2in lift spacers any comments regarding this is also appreciated.

Are you mechanically inclined? I'd put this one step above a brake job. Do you live in the salt belt? Hand tools should be plenty but here in Michigan, heat, PB blast and an impact can be your friend. oh, and a torque wrench. You will also need an alignment after its complete.

I had a friend put third gen suspension on my truck while I was out of town and he charged me $400, including rear leafs and e-brake cables.

You can probably plan to scrap the old suspension parts but I imagine you may be able to get a small amount of resale for the lift spacers if you don't plan to run them. 2" spacers may give you alignment issues... they may not.

    Thank you

I live in the San Jose, so no salt..

Mechanically inclined. Kinda is the best answerI was able to complete new brake pads on the truck as well have replaced pads and rotors on other cars and motorcycles..

When time permits can you elaborate on the comments above if I do use the included spacers.

    Thank you

It will take longer than a brake job but really its just nuts and bolts. Find a good "how to" on youtube or on this forum, there are plenty. There are easy ways to do it and little "tricks" that can help a lot, rather than just diving in blind.

The spacers change your suspension geometry and it could affect the ability to get a proper alignment. 2" is about the max you can lift without getting an aftermarket upper control arm. Some people can get a decent alignment some people can't. Kinda depends on who you take it to and how perfect you want you alignment. Since you don't off-road the only advantage you're getting is aesthetics.

I installed 3rd gen suspension on my prerunner too and tinkered around with the suspension a couple of times already. It's pretty easy as long as you have the right tools: socket wrench, torque wrench, pb blaster, pry bar and YouTube lol.

If you were closer to socal I'd install it for you in exchange for lunch. Good luck
