I have the steel sensors on the same alloy wheels.. They were installed backwards and have lasted without issues for about a year or so. I was told by the guy installing them that when they take off the tire from the rim I need to tell them to be careful around the area where the sensor is at because if they put the machine that takes the tires off the rim it will break the sensors.

The mount/ dismount machine will break the sensors right off. I would only allow a highly trusted tech do this for me. I would recommend running without sensors rather than putting them in the alloys. You're in Montana -you should have two sets of wheels (summer/ winter) anyway.

Would also make installing and removing the tire tricky.

Yea, that's pretty good and I would grab them. I've seen identical 16" wheels here locally as low as $50 per corner (I should have jumped on that). $500 total with new/newish stock takeoff tires seems fairly common

Hey everyone thank you for the help on this. I have decided that I am going to hold off on wheels for now unless I come across an absolutely spectacular deal. The TPMS situation makes it into a little bit more than I am willing to get into at this point. Some day I will probably do something with the wheels though. Thanks again I appreciate the help!

I just saw someone on the Craigslist for Bozeman, MT listing these wheels from a 2014 Tacoma with the TPMS sensors for $450.

You might contact him and give him a lower offer perhaps. Might solve your sensor issue!
