Hey all, I have a 2002 taco xtra cab 4x4, 3.4 5-speed w/ stock 4.10's, ome 883 coils w/ Dakar rear leafs and an ARB front bumper.

I current have 265/70r16 BFG ko ats on. I'm about to order a truetrac lsd for the rear. Before I do that though, I'm thinking seriously about throwing on some 255/85's. I'm about to be living in Alaska and the only off-roading I will be doing is going in woods for hunting, camping (extra weight on the truck), exploring and will possibly be hauling a small trailer for fire wood and a boat.

I am going to regear before going up there so my questions are: how much heavier are the 255s compared to the 265s and should I stick with going to 4.56 or go to 4.88? I will be taking some long trips occasionally from Alaska down to Arkansas so being fuel efficient and still having power for carrying a thousand pound moose, camping supplies, carrying a trailer (not under extreme heavy loads) and still have enough grunt to get out of snow/mud are important to me.

I have read plenty of gearing threads but a lot of people chime in with their current setup (a lot are gen 2 and 3). Sorry for the story lol
