    So I'm new here....

I've lurked under multiple accounts for years. Now I'm finally getting a TACO!! 2018 ACLB 4x4 OR to be exact.

the reason I'm getting the truck is to make it a beastly fishing vehicle from the surf in South Texas. But the area is called padre island national seashore. About 55 miles of untouched beach that's 4x4 access only. And we're talking deep sand!!! I'm getting the OR so I can have a locker. I've been stuck there burried to the bumpers before.

So... bigger tires that can handle normal DD duties and still be able to handle the sand?

    Thanks

wider the better. Deep sand doesn't care about tread patterns.

Consider getting some Maxtrax or traction boards as well if you’re worried about being stuck in deep sand.

And carry an air compressor so you can air down your tires for the sand and pump them back up to get home!

That is a N-Fab I got for a nice discount from AutoAnything. The 3rd step is super handy when topper is off.

Mantras and compressor check!! Thanks for the input. Anyone know how wide of a tire I can throw on with little rub? It will be getting a 2.5 inch lift the same month I pick the truck up.

Captqc is spot on. I've done a lot of surf fishing in the NC OBX. Let your air down to about 18 to 20 lbs and I doubt you'll have any problems. Having a compressor onboard is nice.

My '16 2.7 AC SR loves the sand. With the stock hankoooks at 12lbs. it has never come close to getting stuck. I usually start out in 2wd just to see how far i might get. Sometimes I never need 4wd. A couple of inches of lift would definitely be an improvement as it bottoms out in bumpy stuff at speed..

I’m a sand guy (glamis , pismo etc ) and the trick is air pressure! Tires and lockers don’t matter as much in the sand. Let the air out untill you say “that’s to much” then let a little more out lol I have a low pressure gauge just for the sand . With the right combo you will drive anywhere you want.
