ok so i still haven't gotten a lift, its been awhile, but I'm kinda sold on the Old man emu kit on toytec for around $980 total (http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Old-Man-Emu-Tacoma-suspension_p_225.html) i was going to get the 881 springs because they have a lower spring rate so they should be a smoother ride right? Also i read a few threads about getting the coils assembled for an extra $100, I'm not sure how difficult it is to do by myself but apparently getting them assembled includes some other things that aren't in the disassembled kit and people say its worth the extra hundred. Another thing, i know I'm gonna need an alignment, right? so would i need any UCAs or anything after? or will the alignment be fine? for tires, its not gonna be for awhile but, i want 33" all terrains of some sort, i would like the general grabber at2s because they are a bit cheaper than the bfg ats but i can't find any in the size i want, 33 inch with 16 inch stock wheels. If i do go with 33" tires, will i get rubbing with the 3 inch lift? could this be solved with new wheels with good backspacing? maybe wheel spacers? And i also read something about regearing??? i didn't know regearing with 33s was even a thing, maybe its just for the thick ones like 12.5" tires. So any input at all would be great, i also see many people like the bilsteins, which was my original choice until i found out the full kit wouldn't work with my truck, if there is a bilstein kit less than $1k would that be any better than the ome one? thanks

I talked with Dan from Wheeler's and Since I needed new springs went with the OME kit with Dakars. Since I don't currently run a bumper/winch I stuck with the 881s with poly spacer (Dan's suggestion as well). for 33" it's 285/75-16 (33x11.5) and you will get a little rubbing on full turn and in some other bumps where your suspension flexes. There are write-ups on how to alleviate some of the rubbing. 33 is the max without re-gearing but you will probably notice a little loss of power over stock.

If you can't assemble the coil-overs yourself it might be easier to pay to have them done. definitely an alignment. depends on how worn the rest of the suspension is will determine if it can be done close. I'm replacing all the bushings when I have the knuckles off to do the UBJ/LBJs anyway.

awesome, thanks, I'm just doing aal but should i still replace the u bolts? and the rubbing doesn't sound bad, so its just minor plastic trimming? Ill probably buy that kit tonight then, with the 881s and top spacer, i also have stock everything, no plans to get a winch or bumper anytime soon (although that would be nice). Thanks again

with the AAL you will most likely need longer UBolts. even so most replace them anyway since they will be 10+ years old now and may not come off easily if rusted. depends on where the rub is. some of it is on the frame/pinch weld and some is on the mud flaps (lots of people remove the front when going to 33"). I haven't decided on my tire choice yet but I'm leaning towards 33 over 32 for looks and I have the V6 for a little extra power.
