hey guys just a quick question. i have a 2015 trd taco access. I'm on the last piece of my build https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2015-build.375726/#post-10877831 check it out if interested. I'm looking to get my wheels and tires. since i have a regular trd i wanna go from 16" stock and match the trd sports 17" rim also what is the highest overall i can go without having to re gear my transmission I've heard either 33" or 35" overall? also what is the widest i can go without having to cut and make room for a turing tire? my stock tires if i did the conversion right is 10.5" wide my coworker on his silverado said he was only able to go about 12.5 wide before cutting the back of the front tires body and his tires stick out 3" and didn't upgrade his flares. my concern is i really don't want to do any cutting also since my tires are wider they will stick out pass the body do i have to upgrade my flares? i really only do mountain trails and pretty much don't go over 15mph so i doubt i will kick rocks up but if i ever get stuck and have to floor it my doors might get messed up? at what point do i upgrade flares?

also since i have a modded front bumper i have a lot of room up front but not sure about the back for width

    265/75/16 for no trimming
265/70/17 (I think I am off on a number there) for no trimming.

Any bigger than that and you're gonna want to ditch the front fenders (should anyway they're kinda dumb looking IMHO), probably have to trim a little in the wheel well and migh want to do a cab mount chop.

You should run something similar to this and trim fender well, ditch front flaps and maybe the CMC.

255/80/17 33" tall 10" wide Might not have to do CMC
285/70/17 32.70" tall and 11.22" wide I would suggest spacers or wheels with 4.5" back spacing and you might not have to do the CMC.

But you will want to trim fenders well and ditch front mud flaps. Rubbing and or tearing them up while wheeling would/could cause more damage.

*Someone correct me if I am wrong*

265/70-17 is if you're on stock suspension. How much lift do you have?

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
255/80-17 with mud flaps removed. Oh, and never try to install chains.

Here's what I would recommend since you want to minimize cutting. Go with 255/80r17 or 255/85r16 (depending on size of wheel). These are considered "pizza cutters" due to their narrowness (10") but that's about the only con. They are much lighter which means minimal loss in MPG and you will also avoid cutting the cab mount and hammering back the pinch weld. The common size on here is 285/70r17 or 285/75r16 and that's pretty much guaranteed that you'll have to have a shop cut the cab mount.
