Hello everyone, I'm very new to the Tacoma world (no pun intended) and would like to first express my excitement in being a first time tacoma owner. I've recently purchased a 2013 Tacoma Double cab sport and love it. It's fun to drive and awesome to look at. However, I do have one gripe about it, the seats are very low and ergonomically uncomfortable in proportion to the steering column.

Yes, I have done a search and seen what modifications can be done to alter the seating position.

My question is, how close do you sit to the steering wheel and what incline is your seat set at?

Just curious, I've had my Tacoma over three months and my round trip commute to work is about 50 miles, suffice to say I'm still not comfortable driving the truck for extended periods of time.

Standing straight I'm 5'8" and have the seat declined one notch away from the 90 degree angle mark. I have the seat pushed back enough so that I have a slight bend at the knees. Unfortunately, it seems I am unable to obtain the seating position I desire. I prefer to drive with my hand at twelve o'clock on the steering wheel but in order to do this I must extend my arm out as far as I can to reach the steering wheel. Modifying the steering wheel angle up and down, forward and backward is a headache. The steering wheel is all the way forward but as you all know it slopes up as it comes forward only making it more difficult to reach.

I'm sorry if I missed something, please intrigue me with what your opinions and seating comfortability are?

Welcome to TW. Its difficult to say because we all have different comfort zones. I am 6-02 so mine will be quite different from yours. For what its worth I sit at 2 clicks reclined and the seat far enough back to bend at the elbows 30 degrees.

im 5'11 and the position is sit is where my knee just bairly touches the dash under the wheel. its the perfect length for my left arm to be stretched out when driving with that arm, which is almost how i always drive.

i know i sit to close and that if i get in a bad accident ill probably shatter my knee, but its how i feel comfortable driving

I'm 5'9" and I don't know about my seat position off the top of my head but its about midway front to back and def more upright than laid back. I have to steering wheel as up and out as far as possible to have knee room under it.

I think it is the lack of thigh support that makes it tough after a while.

If the steering wheel is too far sit closer. Problem solved.

Oops, that's what I forgot to mention, any closer and my legs are bent to an extent where it's not ergonomically comfortable to drive. My legs are already bent more than I'd desire in its current setting.

Also forgot to mention, thanks for the quick responses from everyone.

Not the most comfortable seats. I'm 6'3". I tend to leave the seat back more upright. Ideally I'd like the seats to be a bit farther off the floor and the steering wheel should telescope farther away from the dash.

Welcome. I’m about 5’8 as well. and put right or left hand at the 12 o clock. the seat back is back one notch as well i think, and knees are bend just a little. I found it more confutable when i extended the steering wheel out as far as it goes. before that i had a hard time getting confutable, my knees were either bent to much or i was streching my arms out to reach steering wheel.

I always rub the top of my head getting into my truck does anyone else do this? The seat is adjusted so I can get full push on the clutch.

Learned to duck. It only took one or twenty plus times of knocking the side of my head.

Im 6'2" and sit close with knees wide and bent knees... just short of touching the dash bottom. I don't understand this uncomfortably bent concept. When I sit in a chair inside my knees are at a 90 degree angle so anything greater than that is fine.

the problem is the steering wheel...it needs to telescope a little farther as well as the up down movement. I think the seats are not too bad.

Steering wheel needs to come out further and the seat needs to be HIGHER.
My 07 4Runner had electric height adjustment and it was SO NICE.
THis truck NEEDS it! (I"m 5'9")
I can't see the corners of the truck at all, pulling into the garage is an exercise in trust.
I will probably end up selling this off because of this issue.

Installed 1" (then 1-1/2" seat lifts (for rear of seat bolt holes). Helped but still have comfort issues as well. I've never had so much trouble finding a comfortable spot and I hate to think I would sell because of this but there must be a way. I agree that the biggest issue is that wheel doesn't telescope enough OR tilt down far enough. I like to rest my hand on top of the wheel as well as a previous writer but if I keep moving forward, my long legs become an issue.

The other problem is the steering wheel itself which has two vertical drops in a strange place (to accommodate radio buttons, etc). This eliminates the 4-5 and the 7-8 o'clock positions for the most part. Great truck but this is starting to be troublesome!
