    As another poster mentioined. During training we were tested, swimming fully dressed including footwear. While wearing a belt matched in weight to our duty belt. Did a length of the pool as well as had to tread water and had to touch bottom with our hands in the deep end.

    So, no question. You do your job, you jump in that pool and save that kid.

    Strip everything you can first. My uniform weighs an extra 27 pounds. When it gets wet you can add several more pounds. I would rather not have that to contend with. If you cant tread water with the kid then you are just another victim when the other officers arrive.
