Quick jolt/loss of power

    Cold morning, truck didn’t quite want to crank.
    Riding down the road going around 60 and a sudden jolt went throughout the truck. Radio went off, dash lights came on.
    I put the truck into neutral and coasted to the side of the road (truck is still running by the way). All the lights went back off right as it happened and the radio came back on.
    Any ideas as to what this might be? There is corrosion on my positive battery terminal. Just wondering if that could be the cause or if it might’ve been something else?

    '17 wheels,int. Wipers , bed mat , relocate trailer plug , husky floor liners , Lund nerf bars, wet Okole seat covers- heat & lumbar.
    Gotta start somewhere ,might as well clean both terminals,and follow the ground wire and clean at every junction and termination.

    Yes, clean battery connections, check grounds on frame and engine, check alternator perf.

    Ignition switch may be going bad too. Slowly turn the key through the different positions (lock,acc,run,start) while wiggling/jiggling the key. The dash lites/power will come and go if the ign switch contacts are starting to fry

    Maybe I'm dumb or slow or ... I have been driving various vehicles since I was 15 years old ( now really close to 63 years old ). Other than the connection at the battery terminal I have never seen a loose or high resistance ground connection on any vehicle. Of course that wouldn't include one that has been loosened by a mechanic and not tightened properly after. Why does lots on here always recommend checking and cleaning the ground connections on the body, chassis etc... Honest question. Have you ever found a defective ground connection on the chassis or body?

    Yep, my 87 supra ate 3 alternators before i found/tightened the loose battery cable down on the frame below the battery tray. My dad's 2nd gen had a battery warning lamp that would come and go randomly, the alternator would stop charging. I threw a couple alternators at that one too thinking I got 2 bad remans in a row. I found the little 10 mm nut on the positive cable post in the fuse box (near the main fuses) had backed off. Tightened the nut, never saw the battery light again
