While proper sound stage and tuning are important power is more important. I'm not talking stock systems because we all know even the JBL systems suck. When I put a system in my vehicles the first thing I do is figure out the total RMS then find an amp that's 50% greater then that. To many people replace stock speakers with after market speakers then bitch they sound "tinny". The sound like shit because they don't have enough power to drive them. I'm not talking subs here. Just regular 6" speakers. The reason I spend more on a higher output amp is heat. The less that amp has to work the less likely it does a thermal shutdown.

In short it's all important. lol

I was just talking with the Sales guys yesterday about the pathetic audio in toyotas...
I said "Instead of this $1700 useless NAV system, Get a $1500 premium audio system..."
and I don't mean the JBL handcuffs system...
I remember my mom's 90's avalon xls had a premium sound system with tweeters and a sub with an amp...It was killer system for a factory car at the time...CASSETTE system :)
