What is the largest tire I can fit on my 2002 pre-runner with stock suspension?

    Thanks!

No, they are too wide, and even with a lift you would have some rubbing issues

    I'm positive it doesn't rub.

I'm thinking about going with 285/75R16...I can deal with a little rubbing.

youd probably be hard pressed to find a 285 width tire thats short enough to fit a stock suspension

whats wrong with the current tires?

and 265/75/16s are generally the largest but that varies with the tire too...each tire is different...and they SHOULD be larger than your current tires...but maybe a half inch skinnier

i even still had rubbing with one set of 265/75/16s after i had spacers on my truck...

each tire brand/style is different too...one 265/75/16 may measure out to 32.6" high, and say 10.5" wide...another 265/75 may measure out to 31.8" tall and 10" wide

I have michelin LTX's on my truck right now that are 275/70/16 with no rubbing.

I'm going to order 285/75/16 terra grapplers and maybe a spacer lift in the front.

    A little rubbing isn't a big deal.:laser:

youre going to have more than a little rubbing with those tires i think

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

i have roughly 3" of lift...run a skinny tire thats close in height to the 285/75/16 and i have rubbing problems

again thought...a lot may depend on WHICH tires you buy...
i had rubbing with the trxus tires both without and with a spacer lift...i had zero rubbing with the mastercrafts...i have minimal rubbing with SAWs and 255/85/16s but have INSANE rubbing with that size and the spacers

Well I'm going with the Nitto Terra Grapplers.

That size looks pretty good...those are just a little skinnier right?

according to the nitto and michelin websites...

Michelin LTX 275/70/16 is roughly 31.3"x11.1"
    Nitto TG 265/75/16 is 31.54"x10.75"
    285/75/16 is 32.68"x11.34"

with the 265 it would be .24" taller and .35" skinner
with 285 it would be 1.38" taller and .24" wider

its not a LOT of width difference than what you have now...but you also add over an inch of tire height...which could easily change how much, wear, and when the tire rubs
