So I've got a black 3rd gen. Can i use the turtle wax jet black spray wax. Then go over it again with the Meguire's gold class wax? Is this safe to do or a bad idea?

I wouldn't. Spray wax is messy and Meguire's is great by itself.

Yes you can. No worries there. Give it 12 hours between the two if you want to [potentially] maximize the duo. Not necessary, but there's a chance that it might look a little better if there are any polymers in the black wax that have an extended cure time.

This would be sorta like topping a paint sealer with a wax, as I'm guessing the black wax is a mostly synthetic product.

FYI the gold class looks really nice on its own, but if you do the "duo", let us know how it turns out. I'm curious.

Last Sunday I used Eagle One Wax As U-Dry then Meguiar's Ultimate Spray Wax and then I decided just to wax it with Meguiar's Cleaner Wax.

    You will be fine.

Hey Harpo, I had a package of Megs Gold Class in my hand this morning at Walmart. I was going to put a coat of it on top of the Megs Cleaner Wax I put on it last Sunday. I put it back on the shelf as I want to see how the Cleaner Wax is going to hold up in the next 3 months. I may just put another coat of it on for the winter. I have rinsed the truck off twice this week at the car wash with plain water and the bugs/dust/bird droppings slid right off.

Sounds good. If I have enough time in the morning to do it I'll let you know tomorrow morning.

See I'm looking for that kind of performance. I live in SOCAL so it gets up to 100 plus degrees. I'm scared if any water or droppings touch my truck for any amount of time.I'm screwed.

    https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-A1216-Cleaner-Wax-Liquid/dp/B0002NYE5M

You can read the reviews on Amazon. I read allot of reviews about products I buy on there. If I can buy them at Walmart I'll get them there. But yeah the Meg's Cleaner Wax goes on like butter and comes off the same way. I even waxed my entire truck before wiping the wax off. I'm going to put another coat on it this Sunday as it is suppose to be around 67 at 7am. Then I'm just going to rinse it off with plain water for a couple months. (Just wanting an idea of if this wax will hold up for the winter) If I do use soap I'll spray Meg's Spray Wax on it after I dry it.

You probably already know this but when you applied the Meguiar's Cleaner Wax it would have removed the previous two waxes you mentioned due to it's cleaning properties. Just FYI.

Look into a sealer rather than a wax. They're much more durable than waxes. Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax is a sealer (even though they call it a "wax"- it's got no wax in it).

Sealers don't have that deep, wet look that waxes have. Rather, they tend to be a glassy or mirror like shine and they have a real pop to them.

But this is where sealers surpass waxes by a long shot (usually)-- Compared to waxes, sealers generally last months, whereas waxes are often measured weeks.

The difference in appearance between waxes/sealers is really in the eye of the beholder. On my pyrite mica taco, sealers look way better to me than waxes.

Sealer technology has come a loooong way in the last few years. If you've never used one, you should give it a shot. They apply just like a liquid wax but are often much easier to remove. And they last and last.

You might like to try Collinite 845. Easy application and removal and its bullet-proof. Really nice stuff. It's kind of a hybrid sealer-wax. It also looks awesome. I'm fairly confident in saying it'll last 3x as long as the Megs cleaner wax and Gold Class.

Oh, and a bottle will last forever.

If worried about water spots then put a coating on. Big improvement over a wax or sealant. Look around cause there are better products that what is sold at a big box store.

So i washed, clayed, detailed, then waxed my truck this morning. Couldn't be happier. I thought in order to get that glass feel I would have to get more clear coat added (wouldn't hurt) but clay bar with turtle wax jet black detailer did the job. Meguiars gold class was not bad to apply or take off. Only in the parts I added to thick a coat.

Amazing what a good clay session can do, isn't it? I did it for the first time when my truck was about a couple months old. I thought it didn't need clay because it was so new. Boy was I wrong. After I was done I was amazed at how the paint felt.

Claying is so easy. And on newer trucks it's really quick. Even 20 minutes of Claying makes a huge difference.

Did you use the paste or the liquid?

Gold Class looks really nice, I like it. But I doubt you'll see more than a couple of months in the heat. Maybe less.

In the future, I think you'd be much happier with Megs Ultimate Liquid or Paste (both sealers). The major difference between the two (other than consistency) is that the Liquid won't stain trim. It goes on like butter and doesn't need to haze like other waxes. You apply, let it sit 3-5 mins and then remove. To ensure even application, a second coat 24 hrs later really amps it up.

Just thought I'd throw it out there for ya I think about.
