Quick stereo wiring question (dimmer)

My scosche wiring harness (JBL setup) has no open ended dimmer wire. I see a dimmer wire on my wiring schematics, but they're standard stereo I believe. Has anyone hooked up the prescibed dimmer wire with any issues? I don't want to blow out the dimmer pot.

 

the dimmer wire is not used with a pioneer deck if i am not mistaken.

 

wrap the wire with elec. tape and tuck it, ive tried 4 different units none take the dimmer wire that ive seen

 

My Pioneer deck has a dimmer wire, but I didn't hook it up. But it's an older model (about 3 years old).

 

Are you referring to the "illumination control" ?
I have the jbl harness also, and I skipped this.. the cable on my deck was orange/white.

the deck I installed jvc kdavx44 can dim with the internal illumination.
I stopped, because I very rarely every adjust the illumination control in my car.

when I further disect the vehicle, I will see if I can figure that thing out.

 

I think the dimmer wire needs to be connected to the headlight wiring in some manner. That way, when you turn on the headlights, the heat unit brightness dims.
