Interesting responses, thanks everyone. The video has the same sort of comments - all over the place.

FWIW, I did this video after hearing about it from many, many viewers and other journalists. I didn't think much about it until I asked the chief engineer to get into the Tacoma and he did the same head movement trick I do.

It seems to me, this issue or non-problem, just really depends on your body and torso length. It is definitely a personal preference thing it seems after reading the many comments.

I’m guessing someone probably stated this, but I didn’t read through all the comments. I’m 5’11 and have no issues getting in. I don’t need to raise the seat at all and it works for me. My wife is 5’1 so she would need to raise the seat. Ultimately she wouldn’t have issues getting into the truck. I think it’d be a great addition since she’s so short.

I wish it did. A car my friend just bought adjusts the seats by whose phone is connected to the Bluetooth. Kind of like how Entune is set to its own setting per phone. I wish Toyota would do something like that.

Toyota has the reputation of being last to the market with innovations, however, when they do it, they do it right. It took them years to introduce a power seat, so I wouldn't expect many changes too fast! LOL.

IMO - the growing competition is going to push Toyota to spend more on R&D and thus an improved Tacoma will be the net result. Just look at the 2020 model with many of the new items being the result of competition already from the Ranger.

I can't even tell you how many fights we've had on trips over whose phone was connected to the head units. Also on both our Subaru and the Taco, the head unit would sometimes not work as expected when switching between devices. Would I want the seat to have that kind of effect? Hell no!

Beyond that, our old car had memory seats that would sometimes remember which key was used to unlock the car. We always used our own keys (no mixing). Usually, it needed us to hit the actual memory buttons on the seat. Again, no thanks.

    Just my experience.

Would I have liked it if my 2017 had electric or manual height adjustments? Sure. Thankfully, I am all day comfortable as it is.

Wish they fixed the telescoping steering so that it would pull out further. From the video it doesn’t look like the seat gets any lower then the manuals.

My only complaint is trying not to hit my knees on the steering wheel getting in and when I’m using the clutch and turning..

Yep, the Tacoma has been a cash cow for Toyota (much like the Camry and their best class Hybrids) for many years and they really haven't had to do much to the Tacoma to keep them to flying off the dealers lots without much discounting. Since Ford and GM finely woke up and have arguably put a bit of competition on the Tacoma, Toyota will need to get jiggy with it and not only address the negative issues, but put some innovation into it. Despite what a lot of people think, the Toyota people are not stupid. I expect we'll see some things in the next few years.

Yeah, that phone connection thing can be a big PITA, but we've just adjusted. As to memory on the seats, I don't see the big deal about having to push a button to get your settings. A hell of a lot easier than reaching under the seat, lifting the lever and pushing your ass forward and back to get your position.

As to memory seats, my wife and I have a 10" difference in height. She gets really annoyed when I drive her 4runner as it takes a while to readjust the seat as there is no memory button(as far as I can tell my 2012 4Runner has essentially the same power seat adjustments/controls as the 2020 Tacoma). I can't get in when it is set to her settings, so I have to move her seat just to move it in the driveway, etc.

We are waiting to see what the 2021 4Runner looks like. If it is a 6th gen and we like it we'll wait. If it is another 5th gen or we don't like the 6th gen (think 3.5 motor) we'll buy a last 5th gen limited which has memory seats. Our 4R only has 70k miles, but for my wife, the memory seats will make it worth it. My Land Cruiser memory buttons adjust the seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors. Having my wife drive my car only requires a manual adjustment to the rear view mirror. A really nice feature. In all honesty, without a memory button, I think I'd prefer manual seats. They adjust much quicker.

Torso length matters more than overall height. My girl's fam are all taller than me by a good amount, but they got long ass legs and I sit higher at the dinner table.

That being said, I don't think I've ever bumped my head on the pillar and I usually hop in the seat.

I am 5'11 and my head is not very far from the roof,so power raised seats would be worthless for me,Tacomas do not have very high interior inside at all,I guess the forward and backward moving powered part of seats would be okay.

I'm 6'3" 210 pounds and have no issues with my truck's headroom ... at least 2" clearance above my head

    What problem?

Yes being able to adjust for comfort is big deal. I'm in my vehicle a lot daily and have to move it time to.time. I have no issues on Tacoma getting in and out and I'm 6 ft 190 and 56 old. Just need better seating position comfort. Also wish they would.add 3in to telescoping wheel. Bigger seat and more support would help too.

Hey OP, I see you're from Gering. Noticed the Monument in some of the truck shots in your intro video. I'm across the river in Scottsbluff! :)

Nice! We should meet up sometime. I have the old Chevy pickup outside my house. I'm either there or at the Monument Shadows golf course. :)
