I've got a 2001 Double Cab Taco, 4x4 and I'm looking for new tires. I'm going with 265/75/16's as far as size but I don't know what to get. I drive about 20,000 miles a year and probably 80% of that is street driving. We get some snow here in my area and I rarely ride trails or mud. I want a tire that will wear good but also need something that will go good in the snow. I'm currently running michelin M/S LTX's and as much as I like the way they run on the road, they're not worth a flip in snow and I don't want to spend $200 a tire this time. I'm looking at the yokohama geolandar h/t-s but the reviews I've read are not very good for winter travel. What's the best overall tire for good snow traction, long wear, and a smooth ride? I appreciate any all suggestions.

Well, noob answer.. But any All terrain tires, if you don't get dirty in the mud, i wouldn't get mud terrains (even though they look the best) they're shit in the snow.. I would deferentially buy them at Discount tire's.. Firestone Destination A/T.. there great looking, and Farley cheap!!

Some of this Some of that
I have Kumho road venture sat kL6. They're quiet and have really amazing traction, pretty sure they're under $200 a tire

Anyone tried the Treadwright Wardens? The look just like the BF Goodrich all terrain TA's. They're $100 a tire and shipping would be $100 so I would have $500 plus mounting and balancing. They would be about the same as the Geolander's but a lot less the BF Goodrich TA's.

Like the look of those Firestones

I've got the TW Wardens in 265/75 and I am very happy with them!! Have about 14k miles on them and they still look perfect. I opted for the kedge grip b/c I do a lot of driving in the winter on hilly roads and they've performed flawlessly. The crushed walnuts of the "kedge" fall out (by design) and add siping to the rubber which increases traction.

I think they have excellent road manners and are pretty damn good off road too, with the exception of mud of course. Air down well. They're a bit louder than my old cooper discover at3 but not too bad at all.

At first they didn't balance real easily (I think the tech was smokin dope ;) but when I switched rims they re-balanced more easily (diff shop) but still required a decent amount of weight.

I opted for the "D" rated, thought the "E" was overkill, and they are still heavy! I got them on BFG casings and they've handled some tough situations. Haven't had any separation as some have experienced and despite my abuse of them they have hardly chunked at all. From what I hear they have excellent customer service and stand by their warranty.

Overall, Very happy customer!! Will probably get another set of Wardens whenever these ones are through, and might even grab a set of their Guard Dogs for a dedicated offroad tire.

Whats the load difference because another memeber was telling me to get the "E" rating because my BFG AT's were bald (spinning the tires while high centered trying to get unstuck) but i dont have BFG money

Went to the Cooper Discoverer A/T3. Great price at $144 so I was at $638 out the door plus a $80 rebate from Cooper. I went up a size to 265/75/16's so I also like the look. I drove it back to work and got up to about 80 MPH and the tire is smooth and quite.
