I have a 2010 Tacoma Sport DC (Prerunner), and I'm looking to get new tires/wheels. I don't really do any off-roading...I just want a wider stance. My plans are to get either a 16x9 or 17x9 wheel, I just have a question about the tires. Do I HAVE to go with 285s to look right on a 9" wheel? If so, could I run like 285/60/16 (or 17), and get that under stock suspension. I'm not opposed to getting the billy 5100s, but I would like to try and get by without it if possible. So my questions are...are 285s mandatory with a 9" wheel? Will 265s still give me a wide stance on a 9" wheel? And lastly, I suppose just for curiosity, is there even a tire size of 285/60/16(17), and would that go under stock suspension?

    Thanks
    Brandon

Just put spidertrax wheel spacers on if you just want a wider looking stance

You have to check the tire manufacturers websites to see if a given size of tire is approved for a 9" wide rim. I've never heard of the 285/60/16 before.
