I thought about that for the faceplate, but I'd rather not block my view out the window any more than it already is by the rear view. Radio body is definitely going under the driver's seat though.

Been crazy busy since the start of summer, finally got around to doing something I've been meaning to get to for a while now. My last truck had a couple of D rings on the inside of the canopy that were useful for a hundred various uses, I tried to improve on that a little here. Went with cheap climbing anchors and mounted them on using the roof track bolts, each one has a bushing to size the 3/8" anchor hole down to the #10 bolt and a pair of fender washers, one above the anchor and one below. There's ten in total, five on each side. It's not a big update, but an important one.

    Long overdue grill change today:

Goes against my creedo of avoiding non functional mods, but the cheese grater grill is really unattractive and the price was right.

OP what made you go with Leer vs. ARE or Snugtop?

Also I like your cabinet/sleep platform. I think a thing I'd add is an extended hinged piece of wood with the tailgate down, the rear shell window closed, with some tarp that would connect from the backside of the window with bullet buttons and clip on the bottom somehow.

I have a general idea how I would like to do it, just need to get the truck and the shell here.

Also, did you notice any mpg hit with the shell going on?

    Thanks!

Honestly? Looks. I work in design and little details that go unnoticed to 99% of people jump out and bother me. ARE uses a trim strip around the bottom of the canopy that makes for two detail lines where only one is needed, I find that weird and off putting. Also, one some models at least the window profile doesn't quite match the fiberglass mold in the corners, It bugs me. The Snugtop profile is more of a wedge than the Leer and something seems off about the rear profile. Anyway, there's things I don't completely love about the Leer too, but the whole thing is really quite pedantic and I'm kind of a dummy for letting it weigh as much as it did in my decision. Also, the only dealer within a 90 minute drive was a Leer dealer.

No, not really. Once fully loaded though...

My brother has a friend at Warn and I'm supposed to have something coming my way soon at a bit of a discount, but I don't know the kind of discount. That'll determine what winch I go with. I'll likely go SSO w/o lights or bar to hold it. I'd like to stay pretty stealth. It's not a priority this year though, got a lot of important non-truck related things happening.

In truck related news, I have made a couple of additions in the last couple of months. I finally got my Yaesu FTM-400 fully installed. Radio sits under the seat, faceplate is attached to the vent via a Hondo mount and a custom printed adapter (that needs revision), mic plugs into the trans tunnel and hangs on a switch blank hanger. Accessory power is now all routed through a BlueSea fuse panel on a Pelfreybilt mount. Antenna is a Comet SS-680SB on a Comet fender mount intended for ~mid 2000s Chevy trucks or something. Also, just today I got my brake controller installed. I know not everyone agrees with my approach, but I like things minimal and clean. I struggled quite a bit the standard fare large brake controllers and the limited locations for out of the way mounting. I finally broke down and went with Redarc. Little more money than the ever popular Tekonsha P3 that everyone loves but it's small, clean, out of the way, and really big on features. Won't know how well it works for a couple more weeks but I'm tickled at how little it intrudes into the cabin.

Just something to think about, I'm going to have my SSO slimline (no lightbar hole) with smittybilt x20 winch ready to sell after July 6, maybe even free delivery or meet half way :)

    Will probably ask $1100.
