Hello friends, I'll give you a moment to recover from my attempted humor. What I am trying to forgo is the old "wish I had known" regret feeling.

As you may know, I am new to the ownership of a Tacoma and to Tacoma World as well. So I am hoping to save lots of do-overs etc through the kindness and knowledge of the forum.

First things first my priorities at this point are Driveshaft, wheel bearings. So I've reached out in regards to Spicer driveshaft components but am a bit stuck on the wheel bearings.

I have exchanged emails with 05taco4x4 and was ready to move forward right up till he asked. "IS YOUR TACOMA SPINDLES STOCK?" Reply "YES" followed by, I don't stock them, will need to order them.

This sounds like a reply that ideally should have read. Not many go in that direction when option A B C is so much better. So the question is what is the alternative to STOCK and why? If ABC is so much better, WHY? Where to get and cost?

Update; 05taco4x4 had replied with a lot of good info and answered my question. He did not stock the spindles I need because of the lack of demand for non-4x4 offerings. Makes sense to me and if I ever am lucky enough to have a 4x4 version I'll know where to get the Hobs for sure. Thank you 05taco4x4 for helping me understand.

Now question is, who locally offers the best stock Prerunner 2x4 Hub assemblies? I actually had a parts house guy tell me to stay away from theirs. He tells me he replaces his from their shop about twice a year.

Trying to avoid the whole IF I WOULD HAVE ONLY KNOWN THING! BEING A NEWBIE CAN BE COSTLY. Many Thanks, Pearson

@05Taco4x4 (correct me if I'm wrong)

@Pearson You have a PreRunner. (Me too) The front wheel hub/bearing is different from a PreRunner compared to the 4x4.

The dude you're referring to sells a ton more replacement 4x4 front wheel hubs versus prerunner front wheel hubs. So it sounds like the 4x4 hubs is a stocking item for him and the prerunner hubs are built to order.

Also, for the "spindle" referenced question, the same dude found out that his replacement prerunner front wheel hubs do NOT fit certain aftermarket spindles. Therefore he specifies that his prerunner front wheel hub replacements are ONLY for PreRunners with the stock factory spindles.

I have no idea what you are saying in paragraph 5. The vendor uses quality wheel bearings and presses them into front wheel hubs that he has qualified. The combination of those two items creates a product that is better in quality than a MOOG or Autozone replacement with bearings with an unknown reputation.

And IIRC, toyota only sells the front wheel hub as a single sealed unit so the vendor is providing a replacement product that is almost on par with factory Toyota...yet w/o the hefty parts dept price tag.
