The 3M NVH isn't tape, it's like a dense non expanding/shrinking foam. It's what was recommended in the official Mazda Hood Flutter TSB and has been used by many in the larger hood flutter post as a long term DIY fix.

My last truck was a 86 Dodge the hood shape and actual Metal prevented this. The Metal is getting so thin mfr's have to devise different glues to compensate.
I admit this SR5 is a lot better truck and safer and comfortable, but a truck from the 80's was Real Steal. And my 1946 Dodge Truck is even thicker skin.
    Progress huh?

I will probably get skewered for this suggestion. But couldn't a couple of pieces of VHB be layered to the thickness of the gap and inserted? No need to buy a double barrelled (lol) caulking gun and a tube of anti flutter.

That would just create a bulge there. You need to secure it to the frame.

    'buy once, cry once'.
For less than $100 bucks and an hour under the hood, I fixed the one thing that drove me nuts about my 3rd gen. The repair is solid, cleaner than any dealership tech would do, and should hopefully last years to come.

I also saved my self from the complimentary dealership service dept BS, and didn't have to worry about scratches, dings, and grease on my seats from the tech. :D

    Fixed....:headbang:
2 Hrs at the Dealer and it seems to be fixed. They put a dark Grey Foam like stuff on it. Receipt says it was "Fusor 124 Flexible Foam Compound".
No Quivering hood on the drive home.
Weird part was they said they have not heard of this issue at all.
From the talk on this forum I assumed it was well known (and most likley Trump's fault too. lol )

Nice glad you had a positive experience!
Did they apply the new adhesive to the factory spots or did they also add more to other areas for more support?

They applied to the same Factory spots. I was pleasantly surprised that they did clean off all the old white colored foam that was visible.
The dark grey is defiantly a better color for Grey Metallic body.
I did ask if the glue had to set for 24 hrs, the response was "No only about 40-45 min".
All happy with my SR5 again.
Except still trying to figure out what the small plug below the USB Charge port is for in the Box between the seats. Manual simply says USB Charge ports. I've not seen the small oval plug for USB before.

I believe the 2021s have a USB-C port in the center console.
