I sold roughly $1000 worth of R/C shit 3 years ago and now I'm looking into getting a truck again.

Anyone on here have a Redcat Ground Pounder?

Wanted to know if it's worth a shit. I saw a few reviews and videos online and it got pretty good ratings.

    Anyone?

Looks pretty cool! Sorry I'm not to knowledgeable about R/Cs though. Always wanted to get into it but I know I will never use it as my main hobby occupies too much time and money (dirtbikes + ATVs haha)

I had a TRAXXAS Stampede that went about 45 mph

And i had an HPI Wheely King 4x4 that I stretched out and made into a Rock Krawler

Had about 8 different sets of wheels and tires, 4 or 5 bodies...all kinds of shit.

Ran into a $$$$$ problem and started selling toyz (something a man should NEVER go thru).

Now i need a new truck!

I'm thinking this badboy is gonna be it.

Put CLOD tires on it and make it look a tad like this:

I've had one for a couple of years now. Mine is the GEN1 truck. The new ones are GEN3. It's not a bad truck. It does have a couple of problems that you will need to address right away but nothing major.

You want to ditch the stock radio. It's junk and you'll be luck if it works correctly right out of the box. I locked out my rear steer and just used an old traxxas 2ch controller and receiver. $20 on Ebay of you don't already have one laying around.

Spur gear strips easily. Motor is mounted to chassis so flexes independant of the gear box and the small 48P Spur strips. CPE makes a MOD1 Spur and Pinion for $10

Stock motor is a 540 and in my opinion not suited to powering such a large truck. A cheap 550 sized Great Plaines S-600 is a great choice. Runs cool and it's slightly faster than stock. Will also run on the stock ESC. Costs $13 from Tower.

That is all the bad I've found in my 2 yrs of owning the truck. Everything else has held up great and I beat the snot out of it so you should be happy once you spend a few dollars correcting the problems above. It's the cheapest solid axle truck I'm away of and it runs circles around the Wheelie King.

NICE! Thanks for the heads up. I had a Wheelie King that I stretched and turned into a crawler and was fun but this truck is bigger and badder looking. Those are some easy fixes too. I would also do the CLOD tire n wheel mod also with a bigger motor.

    Thanks for the input.

Sounds like you have the experience in RC to handle any issues that might come up. You'll like this truck. I was cautious when I first saw it as I had read some pretty bad things about Redcat but I've owned just about every brand on the market over the past 25 yrs and they're a lot better than some of the other companies out there.

I never heard of redcat until about a year ago. Then I sold all my RC stuff and am now thinking of getting back into it. I forgot what I was looking up when the Ground Pounder came up on the internet. I read up on it and thought for the price point, I could build a pretty strong truck out of it.
