Sorry to hear about your truck getting totaled, but hey you ended up with an 09. The best news is that neither you or you Dad were seriously hurt. Concussions can be dangerous though so make sure you keep up on the medical care. It's insane to think of a 40 year old texting while driving!

Glad you are both ok! Sucks about the Taco but trucks can be replaced, lives cannot. Pretty impressive that the truck stood up that well- makes me happy about driving mine.

^^^This is my worst nightmare, to see it coming and not be able to do anything about it...

Wow, glad you're OK. Texting while driving? Big problem. I was reading the local paper today and a guy got arrested for snatching a phone from someone that had cut him off while texting. He threw the phone on the ground and got arrested for aggravated assault. Sucks.

    Holy Hell!

Make the insurance company give you full retail for your truck. They will try and give you payoff or wholesale. Tell them you can't replace it for less than $xxxxx.xx Go to Edmunds.com & KBB.com & get the highest retail price. Print it off & tell them this is what they owe.

DAMN, at least your not hurt! Maybe you should part out some of the truck. Let that money go toward MODS!

    *EDIT*
Nevermind you already covered the parting out part.

This is an example of how much technology goes into Toyota Trucks.

Seems like they make the bed a crumple zone but focus on the cab as the safety area. and the cab looks as if its un phased by the hit

    But Im glad your ok.

So sorry to hear about your truck, but like others have said, they can be replaced. Again it's good to see that the Tacoma can take a licking and pretty much save the occupants from injury. Good to hear the insurance co has come through and you've gotten a new truck.

That must have been horrible for your dad... to know there was nothing he could do to prevent the (completely preventable) accident. Stupid people.

If you have any neck/back issues, make sure you get them checked out as soon as possible. (I'm not suggesting making anything up - but if they are accident related, then he should pay the bills).

Post some pics of the new ride when you get a minute.

That sucks man, but good to hear you're doing good. 60MPH rear end is crazy insane, especially for some 40 year old jackass that couldn't wait 3 seconds to be stopped at the light safely to look at his phone. Make sure you squeeze him for what it's worth, don't go easy on his ass.

Man its a sad day when one of these trucks meets thier maker. on a side note...have you thought about salvaging the truck from the insurance company? they will pay you out just like normal but then you have the option to buy it back for what it is worth "in its present condition". Ive done this on one of my toyotas and didnt know it was even an option. should be a very low price and as far as i can see from the cab forward you will have all the replacement parts you will ever need. just putting it out there, look into it. youll kick yourself later if you dont do it.
