Holy cow dude. What a jack ass. This Text/phone shit while driving is out of control. Way out of hand. Hate to say it... but I agree with some of Europe's laws in this dept. You get caught on the phone driving (just talking) and you lose your license for 1yr. That is one law I totally agree with. All b/c jack asses can't drive and talk, or make the decision if it's safe or not to. So F'n stupid man. I can understand why that one guy threw the dudes phone, F'n A man. Kudos to him.

Like everyone already said - the main thing is you and your Dad are OK, the truck is replaceable, life or limb aren't.

It also reassuring to know that the truck will withstand 60mph rear impact - the cab was not touched, the engineered life space did what it was supposed to - stay intact.

Holy Shnikies! Glad to hear you are alright now. That will probably be totalled due to the frame damage. Hope you are able to get a new one or get that one repaired ASAP and get back in the game.

I should have read the whole thread. Congrats on your new truck.

Being a motorcyclist, shit like this makes me cringe. Had this been a biker, he/she surely would be dead. I'm glad that you're ok and I hope you make that punk pay,

DAMN!!!! Amazing that you you and your father were not seriously injured. Kudos to Toyota for that one.

What are you going to replace it with?
Are you parting out the truck?
Got any pictures of the accord that hit you?
How did he hit you at 60mph?
Just kidding! I actually read ALL of your thread.;)

Glad you and your Dad are alright - like Cygan I ride a bike too, and there's been a couple of times when I've been stopped at a light and have heard the car behind me lock up its tires. Nothing you can do but cringe and pray.

Hope the new Taco is working out for you.

    Holy crap!!

Since you were knocked out, you probaby have a concussion.

Were you in the hospitol at all? What did they do?

Concussions aren't to be taken lightly.....You can say a lot of prayers that things weren't any worse!!

yeah spent a day in the hospital...... I was knocked out instantly so I remember NOTHING........I am taking good care of myself though. Just so thankful and lucky . Very fortunate to be able to tell my story. I am so impressed with the safety of the Tacoma cab. It was virtually untouched.

I'm not an advocate of lawsuits - unless justified. If you haven't gotten legal representation yet...do so.

We were in an accident that resulted in an injury to my wife. The other insurance company was very nice to us and paid her medical bills on time every time. When it was over, they set up a dinner meeting with us and wanted to present us with a "check for our troubles". It seemed fishy to me so we got legal representation. Had we accepted their check, they would not be liable for any future problems that arise from her injury - which is very possible. Even so, we only have 2 years but we wanted the full 2 years.

I'm sure your dad will help you with this but be sure not to accept anything from the other insurance company (or sign any papers) without some professional legal advice.

Glad you're OK...that's one hell of a hit you took! The Taco faired pretty well in the accident. The cab looks great.

As for the seat hinges breaking, I think that would help absorb the impact some. I'm definitely no expert though.

Just keep an eye on yourself.... the symptoms of a concussion can last for a LONG time and sometimes be permanent depending on the situation.

I was rear-ended back in 2003 and was knocked out with a concussion/skull fracture. For months my speech stuttered, I wouldn't stay focused on things (wandering thinking). Even now, every once in a while I get tongue tied and never used to do that before.

    And yes....get legal representation!! I did...and glad I did.
