The Eco seal for the solid front axles are pretty sweet.

My new input seal is a Toyota one, the "old" one looked the same. The axle seals are my only experience and they seem good.

Not to turn this into a total Marlin bash fest, I'll still take one of their transmissions over one rebuilt at a local shop which would be just as much, if not more $$$ for a rebuild.

Yeah I'm not really bashing them. Seen a lot of people running there stuff. I run one of the clutches in my truck. Just frustrated being told one thing now its something else.

That is too bad about the delays. I almost went the Marlin route for my R150F but I rebuilt it myself instead. I didn't like the long lead time but it probably would have still been quicker than my procrastination! I took mine apart in May and finally got around to assembling it and installing it mid-November. I wanted to do a good job so I bought two books on Amazon that helped along with the factory service manual. I have about $300 bucks into it using all OEM Toyota bearings. The blocking rings were in good shape still so I didn't replace them.

I tried rebuilding mine. However 5th gear does not want to quite lock in. Almost like a need another 1/8" of travel to fully lock it into place.

Did you get it installed and realized this or bench testing you realized this?

If the circled roll pin isn't pushed in almost completely flush it can hinder the shift lever travel into 5th gear.

No on the bench everything seemed fine. But when driving and everything is turning and going is when it gives issues. Funny thing is when I first put it in after rebuild no issues. Drove it about 15 miles no issues. Then I drive it and start having issues. I wonder if the pin you are suggesting is the cause of my issues. I even bought a marlin short throw to eliminate shifter issues. I feel like it’s something really simple that I am missing. Just don’t know what.

Did you get a new shifter seat and socket from Marlin?

I was going to rebuild it, but they talked me out of it. Good thing since 80% of the trans was F'd and I would have been in WAAAY over my head even with the FSM.

Short throw from them comes with that. It’s something internal causing issues.

So the saga continues!! :frusty: Got the new transmission and its the correct year/series('96-'04) this time. Went to make sure everything is in order.

-The input shaft wont turn/spin. No matter how hard I try and turn it, it only moves back and forth a few cm and no more. It seems like something is jammed.
-Put the shifter in to see if I could try and shift it and maybe free it up. The shifter seems jammed as well and wont shift into any of the gears. I didn't try to hard as I didn't wont to break anything.

For reference, the other transmissions I received, the input shaft turned no problem and smoothly and it went into all gears. Any ideas on what might cause this and might be an easy fix??

    This is beyond ridiculous!!!!!!!!

Maybe the shafts are not meshed or it got dropped in shipping and damaged. I'm really having second thoughts about this. @BigMike any information on whats going on?

Thanks for that 2000GTacoma, but I won't be holding my breath looking for a response from BigMike. I sent him a PM back on 11/27 when they sent me the wrong transmission and still no response from him.

Been trying to call them the last few hours and can't get through. :annoyed:

In both reverse and a forward gear at the same time??? Just a thought, not sure if it is possible on a 150 like it is on some others.

Glad to hear you got a response!! Did you get through by phone? I have been trying the last 4 hours and keep getting the whole "we are experiencing a high call volume and call back later" message. If I cant get a hold of them today, then it will be Monday before I can talk to anyone since they are closed Fridays and the weekend.

Starting to slip? Marlin has been in the shitter since at least 2014. It’s frustrating when you literally want to give them your money but they won’t pick up the phone or have anything in stock

Update...and its good news! After 33 calls , I finally got through to Marlin. You were right 2000Gtacoma, they said this happens from time to time due to Fedex's rough handeling of the packages. Due to getting tossed around the reverse pin slides back and get locked into reverse. They had me remove the plug for the reverse light switch and use a screw driver to get it out of reverse and into neutral.
Now i can spin the input shaft and get it into all gear with the shift lever!!! :yay:

Quick question. Once in gear, I cant spin the input shaft anymore. It just kind of locks up. They said its b/c the transmission is dry(no lube in it) and has never been run/driven. Seems plausible to me, but does that sound correct to you all?

    Thanks

I have only ever turned the input which then turned the output with oil in it. Never can drain it all out. I would say maybe they are right.
