Hi TW, wanted to start by saying thanks for creating & curating this repository of info. Having recently joined the Toyota gang with a 2nd gen at low 360 000km, I'll hopefully be getting comfy here.

My 2nd gen is a V6/6MT. I know the RA60F is not exactly...refined...feeling (my unfair comparison is a friends BMW E30) but the slop between the gates seems excessive. I've read just about all the threads here detailing the rubber isolator, plastic bushing at the tip, and main 'spherical' bushing, but nothing has come up about the selector shaft detents.

This slop is most noticeable going from 2 to 3, or 4 back to 3 - It's significantly easier to be slightly 'off' and grind during this shift. There is so little feedback from the detents that the gate for 3rd might as well not even be there, not to mention the shifter is quite flaccid feeling throughout the whole range. Is this normal for the RA60?

I've also read quite a bit about the TRD, B&M, URD, and NM Motorsport short throw kits. I'd much prefer just to replace the 2 bushings and spring 33275E from this diagram (far more involved would be 33275A & 33205F too) as these have all taken a set by now. Do these kits just remove the slop by having a tight fit for the main spherical bushing?
