Chimney caps are $35 at Home Depot. If you got on your roof, and see no Racoons in the chimney, just put one of these on.

Racoons are bad news. Good luck.

Yeah, living in town limits your options.

He looked about average to me when I shot him, but everybody keeps telling me he's a big sucker. Should have thought to weigh him, I guess. Still small enough that a round of .22 Remington Yellow Jacket dropped him without even a twitch, though.

Trap the darn thing and drown it. Around here it's illegal to relocate them.

Use sweets in the trap. Fish will attract cats too.

Contact your local animal control department. Some of them will loan a live trap for a refundable deposit. Trap them and the haul them off to the woods. Careful handling them. Raccoons are carriers of rabies.

Trappers around here use dry cat food in the traps, guess they like it. The last time I had your problem they ended up catching 13 of them.

Call your homeowners about your truck. You may make out better on that policy.

I've trapped opossums in a live trap with apple slices. Moved them under the cover of darkness to a city park/drainage/retention/protected area. Just be careful when opening the trap and they exit. Stand behind it so they move away from you.

Homeowners usually has a much larger deductible. It should be covered under the comprehensive coverage of your auto policy.

Mothballs will work. Just make sure you have a way to retrieve them or they might stink your whole house.

Pour ammonia down the chimney. Cover the chimney hole with foam or some rags but keep it loose so the critters can push their way out. Check the opening every day or so to see if the hole was uncovered. If it's been uncovered, pour a little more ammonia in and stuff the hole again. Do this until the hole stays covered for a week or so, which means the critters are not in there and are not coming back. Then cap the chimney.

A bigger issue to consider here is the fact you have loose bricks 30 ft above where you hang out/park

I'd get that fixed before you worry too much about your coon buddies lol

LOL! You guys are awesome! Lot's of good advice.. I do have a cross bow..o_O I put clumps of cat pee from my litter box down into my chimney. They moved out. Now I just have to put a cover over it so they can't move back in.
