I know that a good set will be pricy. I was thinking of Kings from DSMS and for the pair I think they said right a a grand. So some where around there maybe a lil more if I have to.

I spent the extra $ for icons cuz I wanted to know they could handle whatever(for the most part) that I would throw at em. They have far out exceeded my expectations! I do a little bit of every kind of wheeling, from sand, trails, minor crawling(not much rocks though), open speed runs, muddin, etc :)

If its just for better fireroad/hunting roads then save ur money and get something cheaper.

I vote SAW's i use my truck for a DD and wheel with it... I am very happy with how they work and have been holding up. I do also like the Icons too really you can win with both....

I have thought about not going with a coilover and just doing like an OME set up but for just a few hundred more I can go with coilovers in the front with the same rear set up. So I figured what the hell you get what you pay for go with coilovers just don't know what ones to get.

another option you haven't mentioned, is FOA. i hear nothing but good things about their products and i don't think they are too expensive.

if and when my 2.0's go tits up, i think i'm going to try FOA..

im just saying, you realize that install will be like 100-200 bucks so if you get 1100 coils, then its right away 1300: ( just throwing that in just to remind you

I talked to Down South about FOA and they said they're shit, nothing compared to Kings, Fox, and SAWS

I run 16" SAW triples in the rear and they are flawless, i can take whoops at 60 and feel nothing in the rear. I gotta work on the front now.

Istalation and alignment I'm not worried about the guy that does that for me is a friend so great deals on that. I have looked around to see what the winning brand is and yea I'm sure I would be happy with that choice but I'm not doing 70 mph over a whoops I'm driving on the highway and torn up trails.

Well I have no problem going with the winning brand was just saying I don't race my truck like they do. Yea I talked to DSMS yesterday gave me a great deal on kings or icons and the guys were very helpful. I have in down to three I think Icon, King, and SAW. What made you pick Kings?

The things required to pull bitches
I called up Icon asking for some misalignment spacers and a spanner wrench for my DR Coilovers and got them for free.

interesting. ...every thread i can find on the intertronz raves about how good they are.

several guys on pirate and ttora run them and haven't had any issues that i have read about.

i know they're not on par with king. ...but most people just don't need a full blown race duty coilover.

You dont need a spanner wrench to adjust coil overs. Use a dowel and a flat head screw driver. I have used this method with no issues on my old Donahoes and now my Kings. You just need to be careful. I have had spanner wrenches slide off and scratch shocks too many times to want to use them.

I run Kings but Icon makes a great shock as well. Icon's approach to building shocks is to make them vehicle specific with the R/D going into their valving etc.

King on the other hand makes shocks with generic valving and you go from there. Its just who is going to do the R/D you or them. Sonny/Marco @DSMS has bridged that gap by valving all of their shocks per the customer's specs. Specifically Kings.

    Build thread in sig...

    x2 ^^^

i have the icons, and they are an amazing shock, but i have a bumper and big IFS skid, and am about to add a winch. even without the winch, the extra weight of the armor is noticible. as soon as th ewinch gets put on, i'm going to revalve them.

don't let this steer you away from them though, valve shims and shock oil aren't that expensive, and it's easy to do. all i need to do is find a place that can recharge them with nitrogen

600lbs springs is what I run.

I agree with you about how good DSMS is. I have 8 King shocks on my truck that were all bought from Sonny. He set everything up according to my truck specs:D

You can order a shock from Icon or anyone else with 700lbs springs. Its not a big deal. Its just a spring and its not rocket science.

I built this system and it allows me to charge and maintain all my shocks. About $250 in parts and well worth it. You can get all the parts at your local welding shop. Pretty simple nitrogen set-up.
