Well,I just watched the Boston evening news and it featured an interview with Sgt. Crowley as well as the African-American Officer involved in the arrest, who incidently offered 100% support to Crowley.......We can only listen to both sides of the story and formulate our opinions from there. My sense in this case is that you have an Officer attempting to carry out his duties, diligently and respectfully, being confronted by an exhausted, angry man with an over-inflated sense of self-importance.

I admire Sgt.Crowley for his strength and courage through this regrettable situation. He is owed an apology by a number of people,up to and including President Obama.

Obama offered a "regret" today but no apology, so this shouldn't go away. Until he acknowledges the facts and berates his friend Gates for being abusive and uncivil, this issue is not going to die. We can't have a president who willfully ignores the facts when it comes to race relations, something he champions.

I saw that,he stopped short of actually saying he was sorry. He did acknowledge that his words were inflamatory and irresponsible so in all likelyhood, that's the end from his office. He called this a "teachable moment"......Let's hope so.

The funny part about the whole incident is that if the colors had been reversed, meaning a white guy got arrested by a black officer, and everything ensued the way it happened in real life, it wouldn't even have made the local newspaper.

It might have made local news, but I can guaran-fucking-tee you that Obama wouldn't have said shit about it.

There was a fellow black officer, Sgt. Lashey, that was on the scene with Sgt. Crowley

He said that he'd have acted in the same manner.

It was definitely a race thing.

I'm sure this next statement isn't going to sit well with some people, but, I thought the reason why like 97% of blacks voted for Obama was so "The Man" wouldn't keep them down anymore.

Call me a racist, I don't give a shit. Skin color doesn't mean shit to me. If you're a piece of shit, you're a piece of shit. Somebody has to say what everyone else is thinking.

what I want to know is, why the hell does the president of our country feel the need to get involved in matters as small as a "breaking and entering?" come on man, your the leader of our country and you get on tv and and talk about petty shit like this?

This is just one more thing to add to the list that obama thinks he is:
    President
    police chief
    CEO
    doctor
    lawyer
    fireman
    late night tv host.....

and the only reason he got back on tv AGAIN to say anything about it was because everyone was making a fuss about how dumb he is, so he felt obligated to say something....

Do i hear that approval rating dropping even more?!?!

Obama commented on it - in clearly more emphatic terms than he did the rest of his press conference - because he saw it as an easy "racial win" against whites. He was just flat out wrong and has yet to apologize. He won't, because I truly believe he has strong racial antipathies toward whites. I bet you NEVER see or hear of him speaking out against racism toward any white person. Read his book. He's a racist. I found it interesting how he described his racial experience and views in sort of a "benign righteousness" tone - see for yourself:

    From 'Dreams of My Father',
"I CEASED TO ADVERISE MY MOTHER'S RACE AT THE AGE OF12 OR 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"

From Dreams of My Father, " I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER'S RACE"

From 'Dreams of my Father', "The emotion between the races could never be pure..... the THE OTHER RACE (WHITE) WOULD ALWAYS REMAIN JUST THAT: MENACING, ALIEN AND APART"

From Dreams Of My Father, "never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. IT WAS INTO MY FATHER'S IMAGE , THE BLACK MAN, THE SON OF AFRICA, THAT I'D PACKED ALL THE ATTRIBUTES I SOUGHT IN MYSELF.

    From Dreams Of My Father:
"THAT HATE HADN'T GONE AWAY," he wrote, BLAMING WHITE PEOPLE,- SOME CRUEL, SOME IGNORANT, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives."

so this is the first chance ive had to comment on this

feel free to correct me if i misunderstand some of the "facts"

a call goes out about a possible burglary in progress...the officer finds a guy slamming himself into an entrance door of a home at the address the call indicated...he asks for the guys ID several times...the guy refuses...several times...officer goes back towards his car to run the guys name to try and figure out his address...guy follows officer back towards car and verbally berates the officer

    correct?

if so...the guy wouldve been tased on his front steps if it was our jurisdiction

The officer had probable cause to think the guy was breaking into a home (anonymous tip corroborated by officer's observations)

At least in the state of SC...BY LAW if you are over the age of 16 you are required to carry a government issued ID at all times and must present it to an officer at his request if a lawful stop/detention is made. The officer also asked the man several times for his ID (from what i heard) and the guy refused...officer gave a lawful order/verbal command...guy refused (this is the point where we can deploy taser if necessary BTW)

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING the officer did wrong

THe guy shouldve just allowed the officer to see his ID and the officer wouldve been on his way and nothing further wouldve come of this

What if the officer had just accepted the man's word that it was his house and then leaves and it WASNT the guys house? oh boy how the shit wouldve hit the fan then

The President should not be involved with everything.
As with anyone he should hold his tongue until all the facts come out..

This is well beyond the officer being right or wrong....he acted in a professional way and did absolutely nothing wrong. The issue is now whether Obama is going to apologize for "stereotyping" this incident as racial profiling, which it CLEARLY was not. I think he "stated his regrets" the other day to block the audio of the confrontation to save Gates' career. Now Obama is going to further obuscate his wrong over "beers at the White House". I find Obama's statements and actions loathesome.

i agree...it goes well beyond whether the officers actions were right or wrong...but ive had very little information on this and ive been out of touch with the "real world" for a week...so i can only go by the facts ive heard

Sounds like racial pride to me. Not racism. You'd be able to understand and relate to some of those statements more if you were black. Though I still believe he handled the situation poorly.

This is our racist minority president's agenda... total empowerment. Reparation and equality will never be enough.

They don't, and never will say they feel equal as they have been raised to believe they can never be equal and personal responsibility alone will never get them anywhere. Jackson and Sharpton are doing their damnest to see that this continues. No racial conflict or equality = No Sharpton or Jackson.

Obama's first "teaching lesson" on race relations was a total, abject failure. A simple apology on his part would have done wonders for race relations....but he won't do that.

Funny how White Pride becomes white supremacy. I am PROUD to be an AMERICAN......A FATHER.....A CHRISTIAN......having pride in my race comes dead last. Racial Pride cloaks so much darkness.

I agree with most of what you said. But telling black kids they are equal to white kids would be nothing short of a lie.
