I've got a Kawasaki KFX400...give me enough "encouragement" and I can't get it to go anywhere a 4x4 can go.

I'm also trying to sell my 05 400EX for a utility (Rancher 420 4x4). I love the 400EX, but I'm tired of getting stuck over downed trees and other more challenging terrain.

I agree with this sports are a little more fun with manual shifting and all and 4x4 can do the mud and be fast. I'm looking at the new polaris predator 525 IRS? i think its called. It looks like a pretty good compromise with the Independent rear suspension, still have a chain, and also foot shifting I believe. Right now i have a Polaris 400 HO, but it doesn't have enough power for me and is a little too boring. I liked my first bike a 300cc Lakota sport Kawasaki, that was a fun bike.

Check out the Honda 700XX too. I've seen leftover 2008 (yes 2008) selling for around $4283 in Chattanooga, TN.

Me and my buddies all ride race machines on the trails we usually run into some mud but we all run like mud lites or other agressive tires and if we do get stuck its just a matter of lifting it out they are so light i think the heaviest is like 380 so for two guys its no problem. You can actually ride 60 to 80 miles a day and not be really sore the next day. 4x4s are fun for the mud but otherwise there big, heavy, and just to slow.

I think it really matters where you are. Here in Montana, I would only want a 4x4 to go up some of the trails. However, back in Tri-Cities WA, a desert, racing would be the way to go just because slow and steady up a mountain only works if you are around a mountain!
