I ride a 97 Kawasaki prarie 4x4 400 .... it was $900 and all ive put into it is tires, air filter, and an oil change.

I would consider a sport quad (rode a honda trx that kicked ass) ... but I also want to do volunteer search and rescue and the utility quad would better suit those needs .... so once i save up enough money and if i pass probation with the sheriffs dept, i likely will buy another utility once this one gives out

Edit: and i ride with guys on sport quads all the time and i bet i have just as much fun as them .... only place ive been to date that my quad couldnt hang was sand mountain nevada

True story haha. Luckily i had a couple of friends with me. I'll NEVER do donuts on a big 4wheeler with big mud tires again :D It flipped over and crushed my right leg and my friends had to pull it off of me.
    I still prefer 4x4s though.

I have a Rhino and a 400ex bored out to a 440cc.....Both are a good time and both of them have their purpose.

Sport ATV's are a blast, I have gone on riding trips 60+ miles a day on trails with groups of people with 4x4s and have never had any issues....matter of fact I had it easier I believed...if I got stuck I would walk around to the back lift it up...move the back tires out of the ruts and give it hell again! I have spent time riding on tracks and really like going fast....I got it new in 2003 fixed it up the way I liked it and rode it hard for a good 5-6 years. Now it sits in the garage most of the time and I don't think I will ever get rid of it as its there when I want to go fast and not taking up much space. This was when I rode it all the time and was a little more confident on it haha

Now the Rhino, ( I know your not planing to get one but I will talk about it bc I can lol)...I love the rhino, its like a tank. I have only got it stuck once shown below...Anymore its all about what can I drive over vs how fast can I go. This doesn't look that bad below but there were a few factors to why I got stuck...1st that ground was bottom less it was a pain to even get another vehicle on the flat ground to not get stuck while pulling me out. 2nd) The belt got wet, goes back to Honda's having a chain drive....once the belt gets wet your done. I was basically just dead weight stuck in water that was slowly rising. I was sitting on the frame which is why the tires look clean as they were just spinning in water.

Now I want the best of both the Sport and 4x4 world. I have been eying the Can Am Renegade 1000. I think this will be my next purchase so I will be set no matter what kind of riding I want to go out and do...Now a days 4x4 Atv's have come along way, allot of the higher bore 4x4s will give you the same thrills as a sport ATV....Granted I am not planning on hitting the metal ramp with the Renegade anytime soon but for fast trail riding I think it would be a good fit.

I dont ride anymore though, I'm married now and have other responsibilities. I have a dualsport bike though and in my opinion those hands down beat anything else if your adventurous.

too bad you cant haul anything on the renegade tho, if i was gonna step up into the can of ham world i'd def be looking at an outlander, i think they're about as awesome as it gets

just picked up a 2012 Rincon and am loving it so far, it'll stand up on the back wheels no problem and this is a 650lb atv we're talking about, should do real well now that it has an exhaust/power commander on it :D

Had a Banshee for a while. I absolutely loved that quad. I had quite a few mods I added too..

But I got more into watersports and traded it for a boat.

I miss my quad, especially during the winter. Hopefully I can get another one soon but I still enjoy the boat more.

My next quad will be either a raptor 660 or another banshee.

Even though the Banshee is a bit of a dinosaur I have loved them since the first time I saw one in like 1990 as a kid!

Just all around fun, racing. I take mine offroad and can get through most mud holes if I get my momentum up. Will go anywhere the 4x4 guys go. Would love to get some snow tires for it one of these days. My dad has a Grizzly 660, for taking it slow and easy, that is the way to go, but I can't get nearly as many kicks out of a 4x4 quad as a racing one, not mention the bulk and top-heaviness of them are a little uneasy on some side-hills. Here is mine, 2002 400EX.

i have a 07 650 can am 2up 4x4. brought it new in 07 and is a beast. i don't drive it much anymore, due to back problems. just had a nerve blocks put in my back yesterday, today i'm thinking it was a mistake. more pain now then ever! i just use my quad for plowing the drive now and tooling around on my property. had a polaris 450 4x4 before that and was stolen off my trailer. both quads served me well, the can am is way more power then i need.

CanAm is made by BRP. (Bombardier Recreational Products) It is a Canadian company that has been making recreational off road vehicles for about 70 years. Did you know that BRP's founder invented the first tracked vehicle for transportation on snow-covered terrain in 1937? Did you also know that BRP manufactured the first sit-down watercraft, and the first all-terrain vehicle designed for two riders? Were you aware that BRP created a new category with the Can-Am roadster?
