Does anyone know the detentions of the center bolt for the rack and pinion it's the one that's verticle in the top of the rack .. I know the hex heads a 3/4 ... but don't know if it's metric or standard or how long it is

It's metric do you have the old bolt? You can go go ace hardware or fastanal and match it up.

    3/4” = 19mm which means it’s probably a M12 or M14. Measure the hole’s diameter with a tape measure. If it’s basically 1/2” it’s an M12 and if it’s 9/16 it’s a M14. It’s probably a fine thread but not a super fine thread.

Toyota uses almost all M8, M10, M12, and M14 for big parts on the drivetrain / exterior. Most are fine thread (not all, like wheel lugs however).

Their bolt heads are almost all 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, and 22 mm. But sometimes their bolts won’t have the same size head as the same diameter bolt you’ll find at a hardware store - ie most M8 bolts at a hardware store have a 13mm head while Toyota’s have a 12mm head.

Just get the longest fully threaded one you can buy and cut the end it’s too long.

You could buy another factory bolt from a brick and mortar or online dealer if you want the exact bolt.

Here are the part numbers (allegedly) from another similar post where someone lost a fastener for the rack.

Looks like most places online have it for about $5 so if you call or go to a parts counter at your local dealer, they’ll want probably $7-10 for it and a day or two to get it.
