Mine may need replacing as well. I recall changing out the fluid a while ago, I don't have time right now to search, but can/should you use the Toyota T-IV ATF or Dextron II ATF for fluid? I think I used the same Toyota ATF for the steering fluid last time.

Anyway, I may have a small leak going on after 205K mi...

ATF Dexron II or III per the fsm.

I looked back through old maintenance receipts and found a recommendation from the dealership to replace the gear and now have the same from an independent shop. So I'm gonna do it (already have the gear). I guess they both based their recommendations on the stained boots.

Well, I'm hoping after using Toyotas Type IV I didn't jack up the seals in there. Pump seems fine. Anyone know what will happen if you use a different type?

So, out with the old and... the lower half of the rag joint is not cooperating. I've pulled the bolt out of the pinch clamp but cannot get the lower half of the rag joint to slide off the old rack. @Timmah! I went back to the video and saw you start to pull on it and then it was off and someone was talking about the bolt needing to come all the way out as it rides in that saddle (for lack of the proper term) on the gear. Have pulled it all the way out (see it laying there in the pic) and it won't budge. I've squirted it with some PB Blaster and letting it sit overnight. Any secret to getting it off or is it just seized in place and needing some bfh coersion?
