Just had the rack & pinion replaced on my 09 140k Tacoma. Picked it up & now the traction control keeps going off.

please advise. The mechanic is on the way to meet me.
    Thank you

Or you may have a bad wheel speed sensor? I'm not sure what error you get when this happens.

Ok he just had to hook up computer & disconnect the negative to the battery.

Now the horn does not work & the airbag light is on. He is saying it is a broken clock spring. Is there anything else that can be the problem of any other fixes?

The clock spring is broken because he didn't center the steering wheel - amount of turns from full left to full right.

Yep, your mechanic screwed up and broke the clock spring. He needs to fix it for free.

These dudes are expensive. Does anyone have a recommendation or where to buy? It does have cruise control & audio controls.

    09 Tacoma access cab MT
    140k Miles
    Cruise control
    Audio controls

If you don't want to deal with the mechanic anymore, you can probably do it yourself.
Partsgeek has the clockspring for $42, OEM is $200 +.

I have no automotive background. I do not do a lot of work on cars myself. Is this a project that I can handle???

Your mechanic screwed up. He needs to fix it for you. Clock springs have been around since the application of steering wheel air bags. The proper procedure is position the steering wheel so the wheels are pointed straight ahead. Tie the steering wheel. Remove the rack. Install the replacement rack so it's centered straight ahead and then hook up the steering shaft. He obviously didn't do that. Most likely he didn't tie the steering wheel, and when he disconnected the steering shaft, the steering wheel rotated on it's own. If he thought he could turn the steering wheel full left and full right to find center of the clock spring, he's an even bigger idiot than I thought.

This is all great info. Thank you. Everything is good at this point except the clock spring. I will order the replacement & attempt to replace it myself or have another mechanic help out.

Ok I replaced my airbag clock spring tonight. The horn works. The audio controls work however the air bag light is still on. Do I have to go somewhere w/ a computer and have it professionally turned off?
