I've recently been looking into putting racks on my 2013 Tacoma for a OC-1 and some surfboards. The problem is, the canoe is 21' long and I wouldn't feel comfortable securing it solely on bed racks or roof racks. I think the best system is to get one roof rack and one bed rack to hold it down better, however I cannot find a hybrid system like this.

What kind of rack layouts do you guys use for longer things (18feet+)?

    Thanks.

Thule has a goalpost truck mount that fits in the receiver and is 58" tall. Sure you can find others similar if that works.
Tractor supply has a canoe loader and rack same type 42-66 high and ad shows it keeping canoe above a camper shell.

A 21 footer is a pretty substantial canoe. As mentioned, the goal post style bed extender rack along with a roof rack might be your best bet. You can also use the bed extender for lumber etc afterwards (works great by the way). They're fairly inexpensive.

    Cheers.

Looking for something like this but for a gen 2. I cannot find any where that sells one bed rack and one roof rack.
