Spend the $65 or so to gain 2 day access to TIS and read through Toyota's documentation related to your curiosity.

I respect your curiosity and dedication to experimenting to find out how it works. It seemed like something was left out of the process you described and I understand where you are coming from better now I think.
Ktbell has a point, the info is out there if you’re willing to hunt it down

I plan on doing that when I get a good source of internet. Has it gone up to $65 now for those two days? Several years ago it was $25. I’m expecting it to take more than two days to download as much as possible.

The camera does work as standalone as well. For example, auto high beams turn off when it thinks a car is in front of you. Or when approaching an intersection with traffic lights, like 90% of the reasons in my case, lol).

You're actually correct. $25 is if you only need access to documentation, and I see it's now $70 if you want files (ECU updates for example).

Did you have snow/ dirt in the grill sensors?
Mine will shut off in winter when they get packed with snow.
Also if you hold the on button while turning it on it will turn off the radar feature so you can at least use regular cruise control.
