Meh my cobra lost about 200ft range with it there, tested with the same radar speed sign. That's just my experience, and with other vehicles non-tacoma too.

Fortuantly though, I don't have to hide them as they're legal in AZ. While yes, your almost always caught by the time it goes off... there is nothing to say they knew it was actually you at vast distances. Case in point, I got tagged going down hwy 101 (I'd just say I didn't know ca law and take a chance lol) outside of redwood... my detector went to full hit and I was coasting about 20 over (going down hill not really paying attention to the speedo... no big deal the limit is set to low anyway). Hit the brakes by the time the cop was around the corner... he flipped a biatch and rode me for about 10mi while I did the limit or 5 under. He knew but had no proof... so yea they can save you.

That's where I live. Is it Fleming Island Plantation by the high school coming in from 17?

My radar has a couple receivers in the grill and one over the license plate in the back. I rarely if ever speed but it's nice to know where the cops are. The thing is really sensitive to and sometimes picks cops up from 1 mile+ especially those things in the middle of the road that tell you your speed. My radar came with the truck btw. I wouldn't spend $800 or so on that.

That was a guess. Like I said I wouldn't spend my money on it but it came with the truck.

If you want to research it it's the Beltronics rx75 plus I believe.

Does the blendmount work good? Does it shake, move around? Is it a good product?

The Blendmount is an awesome product. Doesn't shake, or move. It was pricey, but worth it.

my favorite are the radars you see pointing straight up in the window. the person doesn't understand you can "bend" the metal that holds it to the window.

Another good thing about mounting it behind the windown tint strip is that it can't been seen from outside. I have my v1 there and it gets great reception and it's out of the way. I have it hardwired in

How are you guys mounting it above the mirror? My truck has the metal flakes and I can't get it to stick with the suction cups. I've got a cobra detector BTW. It only came with the window suction cups and I haven't seen a visor mount anywhere. Thanks.

I think I'm going to get one. Do you happen to have a picture of it mounted from inside and outside the front windshield?

I have had a Escort radar detector since I was 16 and by the way that was last time I was pulled over for speeding. I'm 35 now. I say they work and have saved me a many times.

I bought my V1 off a friend for $125. He obviously didn't know what it was worth lol.

I have mine clipped on my driver side visor and it works great. To the people who think they don't work... You really don't know what you are talking about.

On my way to school in upstate NY, state troopers sit in the median I-81. I get them from about half a mile away which, if they are hidden behind a mountain hill, is plenty of time to slow down and change lanes. They all run Ka band. They DO work. They ARE worth the money. And they will pay themselves off after 1 or 2 saves.

I have a 9500iX Passport and it's damn near perfect at ignoring false alerts. The in-built GPS chip learns my route pretty quickly and nearly every time it goes off, I see a cop. Gone are the days when the radar detector meant having to put up with constant yapping.

Having your clipped to the sun visor, do you notice any reduction is sensitivity from the back?

I still have to turn off X band and K band. No one around here is running those.

Wow, you got a steal on that v1! I paid 325 for mine and that was a steal lol. I agree with you 100%, if you have a good radar detector (i.e. V1, passport 8500 or 9500 or belltronics) they work and you will love how often it saves you. If you have a junk radar detector because you didn't feel like puttin up a 300-400 bucks it's pretty much useless.

I love how my radar detector goes off 1-2 minutes before i ever see the cop, it is amazing. Had it for 3 years and no tickets, I drive all highway and usually always 15-20 over the limit.

    Also in upstate Ny btw
